TESCO and the Dalek voice changer helmet.

Last Wednesday I was in tesco and saw one for £19.86 or £19 something.. I phoned my husband and asked if we should get it as it's £18 at Toysrus and we agreed to get it. I paid for it with other items and thought nothing of it. Yesterday I pulled out my receipt and I was charged £39.96!!!
I went back to tesco yesterday and looked and there were more on the shelf and no pricing for it, I took mine to the customer services and asked about it and they said they don't know how much it was on that day as the guy isn't in. Then they tried to call two more people over the mike and they weren't in. Then another person saw me and he said yes they could have been on sale but they are normal price now! In the end they took my number and said they would ring me today or Tuesday or Wednesday..
Is it me or is this really not on, they also told me "You can have a refund if you like", now myself being totally fed up wants them to forfill their policy of if they overcharge you you have it for free plus the money..

Hope they do fullfill it,not sure they have to do any more than give you a refund. There may be an offence regarding a misleading price display,as said, may need proving.0

Did it not dawn on you at the time that your shopping was over £20 more than you thought it would be?
Sounds like they are addressing your complaint.
Were you wearing your new helmet when you complained?"Love you Dave Brooker! x"

It's sounds like they were very helpful. They obviously can't keep track of dates for every product and every price change made. This is why receipts should be checked, it causes the customer and the shop a whole load of hassle and time. I hope it gets sorted for you, that's too big a loss to me.0

At least they have offered a refund, and you know where you can get it a reasonable price.
And yes, since I always pay by credit card I might well not notice that I had paid 20 pounds more than I should have done, so I can understand how this could have happened.0 -

I was in my full dalek outfit I'll have you know and I also mimicked the voice..
A good outcome, I was refunded and they let me have it for £19.50 and it was apparently on sale at that time according to one of the managers. The reason I didn't notice the price increase at the time was I spent a lot of money on Xmas presents and did my shopping also and was in a rush also.. Next time I will be more careful :xmassmile0 -
So they admit that it was being advertise on the SEL as £19-odd? If so, then you were overcharged and they should have given you double the difference by way of refund.0
