...but I'm more worried about my new washing machine, LOL... or not-so-LOL. I've scraped out as much fluff as I can with my fingers, now have to find the manual to check the filter.

I am never buying Iams/Eukenuba/Hills Science Diet ever again. Thanks for the link, I am absolutely shocked and shaken.
whats the problem with Hills?0 -
Thank you for the information on Iams. I have two kittens (3 months and 4 months old) and am looking for the right food for them. The male is prone to stomach upsets and seems better on a dried food than a tinned food. Having read the posts it wont be Iams!
Can anyone recommend some good alternatives? He likes Whiskas, but his stomach seems better on the dry 'complete' kitten food than the sachets. Is it ok to feed him just on this?0 -
I'd sooner chop up the 'scientists' at Iams myself and feed them to my cat than buy her Iams.
Its a disgrace what goes on in the name of research there, Iams (Proctor & Gamble) truly are SCUM! >:(
I would urge you all to check out this site:

Hey guys
Thanks for checking out the uncaged link, shocking and very stirring stuff for sure.
I have been looking into ethically sound alternative pet foods for all interested and have found the following very cool page....
http://www.iamscruelty.com/res-uk.html
Have also done a price comparison on some of the ethically produced stuff and as an example found that...
Burns Pet Nutrition offer 2 types -
1.Brown Rice & Chicken - 2.5kg £8.75 & 7.5kg £23.59
2. Ocean Fish - 2kg £7.90 & 7.5kg £26.99
http://www.burns-pet-nutrition.co.uk/store/index.html
They also do other size bags including a 15kg bag for £45-48
(DELIVERY CHARGES: Mainland UK (excluding Scottish Highlands & Islands) :- Orders £24.99 and over - Free : Orders under £24.99 - £3.50.)
This is in comparison to the dodgy
Hills Science Diet 2kg around £10-12, 5kg £20-£22
Iams Cat 3kg £12
Eukanuba 2kg £12
(Prices for the above taken from https://www.pets24.co.uk/www.gonewalkies.com)
Trophy Pet Foods - also looks good and you can get a free sample (up to 3 per househould) - have ordered a couple so will let you know.
Fromm - stuff looks cool but is from the US and are contactable through a UK email so dunno prices.
Naturediet.net is for dog food
There are a few other links I didn't have chance to check out so let me know if you find anything interesting.
I'm ordering some Burns stuff for sure, also gonna try and get some folk together who may want to order as well cos there is 6% off if you order 5 x 15kg bags - which leads me back to the Bargain, heh heh
Hope this helps.make your own time, you're welcome in mine0 -

Has a post disappeared/been edited? I seem to remember seeing a link to a site selling a book called "Meaty Bones" or something like that. I glanced at it before but didn't have time to order, now can't find it. Help!0

Do a Google search on Raw Meaty Bones. I've been to that site and it sounds like the idea solution for dog owners, not sure how well it works for cats, though.
We used to feed our cats on IAMS, and never had any problems with it, however, I am aware there are ethical issues with the company, as mentioned above on this thread.
My most recent cat came from the RSPCA animal shelter, where they feed all their cats on Hills Science Diet. We bought some because that was what she was used to, but realised that it is a bit cheaper than IAMS anyway, and she was doing very well on it.
A lot of people say their cats get fed up with their brand of food and switch around a lot. I personally think that if the cat isn't eating, it probably isn't hungry. Most people overfeed their animals anyway.
It could also be that certain ingredients in many brands of cat food have a build-up effect and the cat's body starts to tell it to avoid a particular food. Either way, this has never happened to us using Hills.
It is also extremely economical if you are rigorous, always measure quantities and don't overfeed. (Outdoor cats obviously will need to eat more in Winter due to increased energy requirements.)
I find the 10kg bags very convenient and it keeps very well.A penny saved is a penny gained0
