Another thing is, it would have been unmortgageable without a kitchen or bathroom anyway, so the OP couldn't have bought it even if he had seen it first.

Well, its not just a new bathroom and kitchen theres a new cloakroom, new double glazing and new central heating. Is it still cheap for the area?
Go and have a look. They may take an offer as they must surely know its a falling market and as you are in a good position ............make a cheeky offer. If they have done all that work then they will expect some sort of return from it, work out what they have likely paid for the house and the cost of the work they have done and then aim to give them a profit - remembering the costs of their legal selling and buying aswell. Check out the prices of properties in the same road on the land registry - theyve certainly worked quick to turn it round that fast havent they.
