X Box help please?

Hi
My son would like an X Box for Christmas, I've had a look round and there seem to be 2 types that fall into our price range - the X Box Arcade and the X Box 360.

Please can anyone advise me on which is the best one to buy? I haven't got a clue about these kind of things and I'm worried about getting the wrong one!

Thank you

Wendy

they are both the same console - the arcade package doesnt come with all the extras of the xbox 360 premium package (hard drive, wireless controller etc) for example.

    Here is a good page

    http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/compare101.htm

The middle of the 3 is known as Premium in the UK.

Personally I would make sure which ever you buy that you purchase one with a hard disk as this is required to play online games and to download material from Microsoft Market Place.

Theres the xbox 360 arcade and the xbox 360 60GB premium, if you get the 1 with the hard drive you can download demos etc from the marketplace, 60GB may be alot of hard drive space but i think 8GB is reserved for future updates etc
  • Thank you for replying, it's just that one seems to have a 125 memory and one 20 gb memory - am I looking at the right thing?

Also, is there anything else I need anything else for him to hook up to the wireless internet?

    Thanks for helping!

This must be a custom deal as 20gb hard disks don't come as standard anymore.
This will do the job though.

yes, a £60 wireless adapter unless you can plug it directly into your router/modem via ethernet cable. you should be able to find the adapter for less if you hunt around

i'm not sure if the more expensive model comes with the wifi adapter or not.
  • Wow! I was typing a reply and got 2 more replies....

Looking at the website - it looks like the middle one may be the one...

My son is 17 next week (hence the expensive Christmas present - 2 presents in one) he will want to play with other people because he has already said about it.

Anything else I should look for?

    I really appreciate the help!

im not 100% sure but i think to play online against other people, you will need to buy an xbox live subscription.

(i have a ps3, so dont really know how xbox live works :) )
  • Just looked at Amazon and they have a 360 Premium for £166 and if you buy it with a wireless entertainment pack you get it for £20 and a selected game for £10.00

Is this a good deal do you think?
