Can I upgrdae my handset on a 12 month free contract?
Hi everyone
I've just taken delivery of an Orange phone on 12-month free contract (after cashback) with themobileoutlet.co.uk. My plan is to go on the orange website and order a handset upgrade from them (the Orange SPV600 hopefully - says it's up to £79.00 on Orange website).
Before I do that however, can anyone tell me whether it will affect the terms of my contract with themobileoutlet? I don't want them to turn around when I make my claim and say that because I upgraded myhandset the claim is now invalid. I assume it woun't be, because I'd be paying for the handset from Orage, but can anyone else say?
i've tried speaking to themobileoutlet. but I was left waiting for an hour on the phone and then the call went dead! I've emailed them but I'm not expecting a repky for at least a week!
Thanks all
Ian

sorry but you cant upgrade your phone untill your 12 months are up. sometimes they wil allow towards the end of the contrct if you are a high paying customer.0

With Orange contracts they let you upragde as long as you are 10+ months into your contract (from my experience) but I would not bother upgrading with Orange unless you spend a fortune with them as you won't get a good deal to upgrade as the more you spend the cheaper you get your upgrade and the better deal they will offer you. Because I was in the "average" price user bracket they wanted me to pay £100 to upgrade to the Samsung D600 as they only offered me £50 off the handset even though if I started a new contract they would give it to me for free as they make more money on new contracts0

Youre best waiting til your 12 months are up. You can upgrade before then but you wont make any savings. I upgraded to the C550 in November, I got it for free on the 9th, on the 8th they were still quoting me £80 to upgrade. They wouldnt give me the tariff I wanted either, they claimed it didnt exists, despite a friend having it, but it miraculously reappeared when I said I wanted to cancel. If youre upgrading make sure you have the tariff and the handset you want worked out before you speak to them0
