Contract Phone and Credit Scoring

Hello im new to posting but not the forum/site so

Ok this may be in the wrong area so apologiese if so.

Basically I need a contract phone, i cannot go on using pay as you go as its costing me too much.

I used to be a contact holder for 02 about 3 years ago, this went belly p when i lost my job, had no insurance and couldn't pay the bill etc. My contract was canceled and it went to a debt collection agency. I have moved address's 3 times since then and have never heard anything. I know its probably stupid not facing the debt but its quite a lot of money. I also have other outstanding debts and I have done the free 60 day trial of creditexpert to see where I stand etc.

My main question is, if I try to re-apply on 02 online for a new contract and give my details will i automatically be blacklisted ? Or is this now in the hands of a DCA ?

Also if I apply will they find out where I live and pass on the info to the DCA ? I just spoke to my bank about paying off my overdraft, explaining that I have bad credit etc and that I would most likely not get a loan, they said I would probably most defo get a credit card though which i was a bit miffed about.

Sorry to go on, but if i tick all the right boxes that 02 lok for, i.e high salary etc will I be ok ?

This forum and site has given so much valuable info so any answers would be great

Thanks

If you apply to O2 and they backtrack you, yes, they'll pass the info the the DCA for their debt with you not any others.
If your credit reports shows your address's going back the the one where you fell into debt I very much doubt you'll get an account with any of the networks (sorry).

Well as I work as a fraud investigator for one of the networks I really can't comment on that.
  • ok im sorry, i should never have asked. I was just thinking out loud. Its a stupid thing for me to even think of doing. ill just get my credit report, pay the bill and see what happens if I re-apply. God i wish i was more sensible with my money and debt :(
  • Ok,

Im now tackling my debt but have another question which kinda falls into this category.

Im contact all my DCA and going to start making payments ASAP. Ive heard that Tmobile flex plan has a very low credit scoring system and people with CCj's, default notices and even house repossesions have had success in passing there scoring system. Also if you fail they call and agree to send a sim only for £30 and if after 3 susseful months of payment, will offer you a full contract with phone. Im keen to go ahead and do this online but want to know if the credit check is done on me and I fail will debt colection agencys catch up with me and have my address etc ? I.e passed on by Tmobile or is that a breach of the DPA ?

I have recently joined a local credit union and really starting to get my finaces sorted. Any help on this would be excellent.

    Thanks:beer:

tnere have been a couple of threads on the internet about t-mobiles giving people a contarct phone even if they have a low credit score - however i thik you will find that the phones that they have - are not the latest version etc come with a 1.3 meg camera etc

howevere if you go down this route and keep to paying your bills then ths will stregthen your credit score after the 18 months comes up
