Birmingham Midshires Lost Forms and Intercepted Post!!

Options
I thought this was worth a mention to see if anyone else has had a similar experience. I have read on here that many people who applied for Birmingham Midshires Fixed Rate Bonds online never received their forms and had to request duplicates. This also happened to me too in the last few weeks, on two separate occasions. However, what is more worrying is that after having applied for two bonds with them, one 6 month and one 1 year, when I received the confirmation letters in the post from them this week on Monday and this morning, both letters were torn open in exactly the same place down the left side of the envelope window so that you could clearly read the letter inside which obviously includes full name and address details and the bond account number. The fact that both confirmation letters were like this I think is rather suspicious.

Furthermore, I sent a recorded, signed for letter to them on 19 November and it was never received. So three sets of forms between me and them have gone missing and two items of post I have received have clearly been intercepted. Please can anyone let me know if this has happened to them also?

I should add that many other banking and financial letters have arrived at my address which are all intact and ok and our postman has been delivering to us for years with no problems, so it seems this is happening at Birmingham Midshires end. I'm not sure whether I should call them and if so what they could do? Thanks for any input on this.

I would speak to them about it, you have nothing to lose by doing so. :)

Thanks, I did call them and they have added extra security to my account. Would still be interested to hear if anyone else had this problem too.

You should contact the post office. It is not likely to be your postman, much more likely a worker in the sorting office opening letters which look like they might have cash or cheques in.

I think you will find the the post office takes it very seriously and investigates, particularly the lost Signed For letter.

Thanks, I have now reported it to Royal Mail along with the tracking number for the lost letter. So much for a recorded secure service! Even though it was posted on the 19th November, I was only able to report it as 'lost' today as they will only officially consider an item lost after 15 working days have passed apparently! Thanks for the advice, I hope Royal Mail can help!
  • Unfortunately "Recorded" is no more secure than "normal" mail as the only thing recorded is the delivery, if you're lucky.
You'll probably receive a standard apology letter and some stamps!
I've lost count of the stamps I've had from them as compensation. I never use the "signed For/Recorded" method now as it's a waste of money.
For anything important, although much more expensive, I use Special Del., possibly that's why their "Signed For" service is so poor?
