next, It might not have installed from the new installation.
Tried this action ticked network services had to use XP disc but got a message to continue installing network services it may cause windows to crash or become corrupted decided to continue anyway went onto install broadband connection ok.
After connecting to internet keep getting a message Windows has found 36 critical system errors from https://www.fixnow.net and 52 errrors from https://www.Fixed-pc.com. is this something to be concerned about or is it just some form of spyware or good advice.
As regarding chip set drivers I used to have a drivers cd disc which I cannot find, the guy who built my computer may have this cd disc but he has moved house and do not have his new address.
My computer hardware is about 3 years old so hopefully the Windows XP disc will automatically detect the hardware.0 -
Download PC Wizard 2005 or Belarc Advisor and run one of them. They will tell you what your mainboard is. Post back with result and I'll see if I can find a chipset driver link for you.

Yes, it looks like Windows has automatically detected the network hardware. The fact that you can get on the internet means the PCI network adapter is working. Was the warning about crashing or corrupting something like this? If so, it's nothing to worry about. It just means the driver installed from the Windows XP CD isn't certified. By all means search the network adapter's manufacturers's web site for a certified driver.
About the fixnow and fixed-pc messages: was it plain Windows XP you installed or did it include SP2, or did you install SP2 separately? Those messages are spyware and they use Windows Messenger which is enabled by default in XP, but disabled in XP SP2. Therefore install SP2 if you haven't already and download and install all other critical Windows Updates. If you did install SP2, make sure the Messenger service in Windows services is disabled.
Then post a HijackThis log to this or another suitable forum - see the MSE Malware/Spyware Removal Guide.0 -
Yes the message was as you have stated.
Not installed XP SP2 yet still got that to do and install anti virus.0
