£5000 Xmas Present on Benefits?

Be careful here. I am on benefits including Incapacity Benefit and have to tell them if I have savings or any accounts with over £3,000 in them as it would affect the benefit amounts.
I had someone come to the house recently and check all bank statements to make sure I was telling the truth when I said I had no savings etc. They even check the children's savings accounts.
I would check with the benefits office to be on the safe side as if you don't declare it, you would be committing an offence.0 -

WelshSue the limit is now £6000 where it starts to affect your benefit, you're right though better safe than sorry to let them know.
