The "90 day visa" is not a Tourist Visa. It is a Non-Immigrant Visa for those who qualify.
( Business, study, conference, seminar, film producer,journalist, voluntary job, Thai spouse, Persons over 50 years of age and pension earners....)

So unless you actually intend to stay there for more than 60 days without leaving the country, there is no benefit to the tourist to apply for one; since it is £28 for the 60 day Tourist Visa.

But useful info for those who intend to stay longer and who didn't know.

When I moved to Thailand I got a 90 day visa. Allowing me to stay in the country for up to 90 days but working was prohibited, Once finding a job I had to travel to Laos for the work permit.

Not arguing of disputing anything but thats exactly what I did, Passing on what I did and how it worked for me.

That was a Non-Immigrant Visa. You can also apply for a Multiple Entry Non-Immigrant Visa valid for a year.
