that is how the op came across.

    that is purely my opinion.
You got to get through what you've got to go through to get what you want but you got to know what you want to get through what you got to go through.

well I do 30k miles a year and its the first time I have heard this noise, and believe me - it does rain a bit in the uk so the wipers r used daily and I kno how the relay works and it is like he relay noise, but it is just louder than usual, it wasn't like this yest, that's why I decided 2ask ppl who know ab it..

As everyone else has said, it's normal, it's a relay, if you turn on the rear screen heater you'll hear another, and many for other items, depending on the wiring setup in your car. Relays are electrical switches that allow a small current / circuit to switch a much larger current. The relay might be wearing and making more noise, the sound proofing in that area might have slipped etc. Nothing of concern.

i wasn't intending to get into a heated debate/argument, merely expressing an opinion.

i'm an electrical engineer by the way.

Don't worry about the click it is normal for a relay to do this.

lorian - i never said it was right!

  • This is what mechanics are like. Good for us the game is up; all of their 'knowledge' is available free on the internet. I taught myself how to completely strip/rewire/re-map engines and electronics on a car ond it only took a few days.
I will never pay a mechanic their extortionate fees again and thats why they have a chip on their shoulder- everyone can see how bloody easy their job always was

i agree. they can be robbing !!!!! sometimes.
