I've bought some diced casserole beef and some Sausage casserole sauce, which was half price (Well i gather it would be ok for beef as well)
I've also got some rice. Is there anything i could add to make it as tasty for the kids as possible?

I always add carrots, peas and sweetcorn to a casserole, a good way of getting a little extra veg into them!!!!0

grate in an onion, at the stage where you are browning the meat. Sounds odd but grated onion really does 'something' to food that chopped onion doesnt, and the kids wont notice. Its the secret behind Indian restaraunt curries apparently, all the sauces are based on lost of grated onion, which cooks down and carries the other flavours0

Cool idea, thank you, only one of my kids will eat onion, so hopefully this will work :j0 -
You could always buy a caserole veg mix or make your own up. The ones I use have leeks, those really small onions that you can get pickled silverskin is it?carrots and swede in.That way it bulks it out a bit more as well so you may not need so much rice.

Do you know if the sauce is a white sauce or a brown one can you tell from the packet? If its brown I'd say you could use it togther. I normally make up my own sauces to be honest. I cook the veg a little first though then just bung it all in together and let it cook for say 2hrs in the oven or whatever. It may not need that long depends on the rest of the ingredients.
Another option is if you don't want rice with it throw in some pototoes and dumplings in then just have it on its own in a bowl.

I always add an onion and mushrooms, break them in half rather than slice them, they come out really tender and tasty.0

The sauce is in a jar and looks red/brown. I'll put them both together then, i guess practise makes perfect.0 -
At the end of the day as with all cooking its trial and error and all you would be adding is veg I dont think it will really change the taste of it just bulk it out if that makes sense.
I hope it works out ok please don't hate me if it doesn't.
