I have been at work all day and evening...
Thanks for the helpful replies from some people.
I moved in, having posted an ad on Gumtree saying I needed a place. The young girl whose room I took seemed honest and polite as did her father who I met on the day I moved in, as he gave us a lift to the agency who deals with the place, to sort out paperwork. I now find out she was bulied out of there.
They lied, telling me nobody smokes (not illegal, but bad for my athsma, heart condition and now chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and I am on the verge of having a nebuliser and oxygen tank from the hospital at home. I have been having seizures due to the stress and lack of sleep; 108 decibels (I have a reader as I did a sound technology course) even at 3am. The police records are very recent and I have spoken to Environmental health about this noise too.
I was told the others were quiet, respectful, and hard working uni students in the final year of their education, therefore concentrating on passing their course!! I work 3 jobs to make ends meet (all are part time and casual) and am struggling on no sleep and often with no food as they steal it all. There is no central heating in my room and they have sabotaged the bathroom so I cannot use the bath.
Given that I have been having seizures and am on amoxycillin and something else I cannnot remember for my chest infection which leaves me coughing up phlegm, and often in hospital on a nebuliser, I could do without being subjected to freezing temperatures and wearing a coat in bed in my own home. The agency won't send someone to mend the heating. I cannot stick it out til the contract ends in June!!0 -
Well, alot of this behaviour is fairly typical for students I'm afraid - late nights, stealing ('borrowing' as we called it) food, mess and even casual drug use. As others have said, it would be rather a lot of effort to damage the heating system and the plug may just have gone missing, it happens in student housing!
I know it doesn't help now but I really wouldn't recommend living with students again. I did my stint when I was younger and loved it but just a couple of years later I couldn't go back to living that way.
The only piece of advice I have is that you are nearly at the end of term so you might get a few weeks respite. You could try to advertise at the room at the University - there will be other students looking for housing once the new term start e.g. language students, those on placements who have been away for a few months and would be keen to take on a tenancy until the end of the academic year.0 -
Hi Flickering Ember, I am so very sorry love to read about what you are having to go through. I am sorry you are ill as well. Please keep strong, as best you can, and I hope you get the advice soon as posible, that you need. You sound as if you have done everything you can to help yourself, and the whole carry on sounds as bad as what we used to put up with from bad neighbours who used to live next door to us, a lot of years ago. It was a terrible time for me and the children as we were on our own then, and life was hard enough. No one wanted to know about us. I wish you well love I really do, and hope you are able to get sorted out as soon as is possible. Is there a friend who you could stay with while things are sorted? Even kipping on a friend's settee would be better that that hell. I do agree though that changing your name etc. would not be a good idea, and I understand why you are thinking like this, as when you are in a desperate situation you think of drastic things. Take good care love warmest wishes, MargaretxxDo a little kindness every day.;)0

I think you need to do look through gumtree and find someone wanting accomodation and see if you can fill the room and leave early.
Someone else, like neas, will probably do well in this household. You can't cope because of your illnesses and hours worked
For future you really need to look at different accomodation. Probably lodging would be better as you will only have the house owner to share with, or ideally on your own.
Good luck.0
