As for the bath, in the meantime you can easily buy your own plug. It sounds like the sort of houseshare where each flatmate keeps loo roll in their own room ;)

You can buy a rubber bath plug for less than £1...try B&Q, homebase, robert dyas, pound shops, any hardwear shop etc.

I am seeing a new property today and I will take it if I like it.

However, I am in a nightmare property and the agency it's under will NOT put me in touch with the landlord and will NOT release me from the contract and although everyone else is in breach of their contract, the agency says they're not.

Eg, illegal drug use (cocaine and marijuana), noise 24/7 and painting on the walls as well as damaging items.

I want to leave as I have been very ill as a result of everything, and I was wondering, if I change my name and I am already not on the electoral register, can they really chase me if I leave no forwarding details?Stupid idea, you can't change your name every time you hit a problem.

And what could they do to my guarantor? Take him to court to pay your rent arrears. I cannot pay for 2 properties but this current one is literally !!!killing me; I have a severe chest infection see a doctor, you may need antibioticsas they've sabotaged the central heating so it does not reach my room. Not really possible, without some plumbing capabilities.

They have also taken the plug out the bath Universal plug £1.75 from Woolies.so I cannot use it and due to epilpesy I cannot risk using the shower so I can only have a wash in the sink til I go to beg a shower from a friend....

They steal my food and have ruined all my kitchen equipment and the communial areas are so gross I cannot be in them; sticky messes, drug detritus, etc. The joys of a shared house I'm afraid. The agency will not cooperate at all and are threatening me and I am scared.

I am seing CAB next week as I cannot get an appoitnment til then but I ned to take this place today if I see it as it's a great deal.

Ask if you can be released if you find a replacement. Was the property so different when you viewed it?

I have a severe chest infection as they've sabotaged the central heating so it does not reach my room.

Come on, How have they sabotaged it? You checked your valve in your room? or Bled the radiator? Perhaps... as i suspect they've done nothing and theres something else causing the problem... But your blaming them lol.

They have also taken the plug out the bath so I cannot use it and due to epilpesy I cannot risk using the shower so I can only have a wash in the sink til I go to beg a shower from a friend....

Is this a student house?, Buy your own plug for 70p from wilkinsons!... Just another excuse.

and the communial areas are so gross I cannot be in them; sticky messes,

Again... Cleanliness/control type. But other housemates wont be controlled so your depressed. 50% of the houses i've lived in.. majority of time have unwashed dishes and mess on worktops... sometimes bins overflowing with waste as people fight it out who does chores etc. Baths would never get cleaned..

My last rental before i got married had a good diea... he employed a weekly cleaner for a few hours to do the cleaning and then there was no fighting over roles etc.

Your higher standards and maybe some note leaving or telling them off... has alienated you from them... they are now trying to make your life hell.
neas you can be extremely judgemental and rude sometimes. Sure we only get one side of the story here but how you jumped to the conclusion above I don't know.

Neas' observations on housemate "types" did make me smile though...! Ah the joys of shared houses...

How long have you been in this tenancy?
How long do you have left on tenancy?
Have flatmates got worse over the time or have they always been this bad?
Have any of flatmates changed during your time there?
Do the LA do any inspections? and how often?
Have you ever written to LA?
On your tenancy agreement what details are filled in under LL name and address?
Has a doctor confirmed your health is worse due to your living enviroment - if so they offered to have the accommodation accessed?

If you can't answer these now, please get this sort of info ready for your CAB visit - it will save you time in the long run.

oh come on, anyone who has lived in shared housing has known at least one 'poor' housemate...

The person who just isnt adapted for house sharing, they either are too rude overpowering etc or are too whingey/whiney imposing their own standards on others... which makes them get outsed.

The OP is moaning about most things which either cannot be the fault of the other tenants, are pretty much normal living conditions for shared housing or can be rectified with a 70p spend at wilkinsons....

If she moaned about these things to me as her housemate... I certainly wouldn't be sending him/her a xmas card. Its just social suicide.. and thats prob what has happened.

The Plug... tough, its a shared house these things do happen, it prob was a drunken idea when the other housemates were having fun.
The Radiators... very unlikely other housemates
The Unclean worksurfaces... again unfortunately you have to approach this issue with caution... everyone has different standards and because its not peoples house they care less for it.

neas I've asked a load of question because the OP has asked for help not criticism. You are right we only have OP side of story BUT
if they are 1 month into a 12 month TA it is going to be very different to if they are 5 months into a 6 month TA.

the OP maybe suffering depression or other stress symptoms and the doctor maybe well aware of the OP and could help them get somewhere quieter.

Not all of us are strong charaters who can or want to stand up for ourselves but as I said before if they are off to CAB then its best they go prepared.

I also know from experience one house mate change and the whole house can become a battle field with people drawing sides and making others lives a misery and I'm not talking about not sending Xmas cards.
