Mini stocks/shares ISA - which/where?

I've got my Abbey Postal cash ISA sorted.
I want to utilise my other £3k allowance for the stocks/shares bit. I want one where I basically pick the shares (not managed funds stuff), and also where I simply transfer £3k straight in and start trading.
Where are the best places for this? I know what to look for usually for plain simple stock broker accounts, but this ISA bit confuses me a bit.
TIA.

I have exactly the same question. I have a cash ISA and now want to open a mini shares ISA and do my own trading, but can't find information on how to do it. Any advice out there?0

Hi, there,
You can open a mini stocks and shares self select ISA with a broker. You trade in exactly the same way as for a normal account. Put the money in and away you go!
I have mine here -

and
http://www.comdirect.co.uk/

If I refer you as a client to comdirect.com then we both get £50, PM for details. Take a look at the site first to see if you like it or not.0 -
Thanks, someone else already emailed me about comdirect, and I am getting sorted. Thanks very much.0

Hi, I don't understand much of this. I would like to invest £ 3000 in a mini stocks and shares ISA and I wonder if there is a website that shows performance and cost of the different ISA's. I don't really want to bother with picking my own shares. Can anyone help? Thanks so much.

ISA's are not performance vehicles but wrappers which are tax free so basically anything inside an isa is tax free, you need to go to https://www.morningstar.co.uk choose a fund which suits your risk, goals etc and if you have any problems talk to a financial adviser or ask us here.0

Thanks, I just checked the "mornigstar" website out, but I find it very technical. I have never invested in shares before and simply don't know what to look out for.
I wouldn't dare to go to a financial advisor with only £ 3,000 to invest.0 -
Dont be ashamed - those are the limits set by the inland revenue - not what you have!0

Thanks ever so much for giving me the confidence. I just fixed an appointment with a financial advisor!0

there is nothing wrong with being a first timer i am only been investing for a month http://www.morningstar.co.uk/investabc/ this is a great link and where i started and will be able to give you the basics on unit trust, invesment trusts trackers etc.
I think what you are after is where an expert will pick the stocks etc and you will put some money in there and let them do there magic (this is how most people start off investing and is a great way to get into the market)0
