18866 plus p.a.y.g mobile

Hi Iam sure I read somewhere on here about a month ago (but cannot find it now!) the benefit of dialing 18866 + rerouting calls from my PAYG mobile. I have already registered to 18866 from my home address and am saving ££££'s but would like to use 18866 when making calls on my mobile...anyone know if this possible?? I am currently with t-mobile

thanks joanne

Yes it's possible to use 18866 from your mobile. But if you are on PAYG it is unlikely to benefit you unless you are proposing to make international calls?
  • This is useful to mostly contract holders who have inclusive minutes - HOWEVER - it can be used by PAYG customers to their advantage.
An example - say you use O2 PAYG Talkalot ( the free SIMS) - they charge 25p a min for the first three minutes each day then 5p a minute ( or 2p at w/es) to other O2 lines or landlines. If you're phoning cross net then use this to reduce the cost of your call to the 5p or 2p (w/es)+14p or 4p (w/es) (18866 tariff). So you end up paying only 19p a minute or 6p (w/es) for other networks. The 18866 number is 02070019797. Or use 1899 (18866 sister's co.) for even cheaper prices.

The bad news the way T mobile PAYG tariffs are structured you'll struggle to get any benefit from this. Just get a free O2 SIM.
  • hi thanks for the replies - seems quite confusing though....i think ill stay where i am with t-mobile as i am a low user anyway + keep my current tel number. i wasnt aware you could get a free sim from o2 - so thats handy to know anyway thanks again joanne

with tesco mobile you could register 18866 as one of your 3 favourite numbers and pay 10p /minute for access . useful for quick /international calls or mobiles at weekends.
tesco use o2 network .their standard charge is 20p/ minute, but your 3 favourite numbers can be mobile ones
never put off buying a bargain today,it may be gone tomorrow
