  • thanks for responding so quick bargepole. Should I just ignore it completely then? dont send anything back, etc? I know martin has several 'template' letters on here, I was worried about sending on saying i wasnt driving in case they have cctv, but I dont think i could cope with the hassle of going to court.

The evidence from hundreds of cases on various forums is that there are no known cases of a PPC taking anyone to court where no response has been made.

If you write to them, they are more likely to think they have a hooked fish, and will pester you for longer.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.
  • Its only on American tv shows where the cctv is good enough to count the hairs on a fly. Totally ignore them, then they are not sure they have the correct one, by replying you just confirm it.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • Just want to say a quick thanks to the regulars helping answer questions in the thread. Ta guys :)

I have just been given a parking ticket what should I do to contest it. Was parked at home in my own private parking bay however i didn't display my permit. I have just moved into the flat that has a under ground parking are with a key entry system and never thought it would be a big deal considering these points. The company is 14 Services who work out of Bristol.

    Help pse,

  • thanks guys

i will ignore it... i guess i will hear from them when it goes over the deadline. is there any point i shold contact them if they start becoming threatening?

just out of interest i have heard if they dont put a ticket on your car at the time its not valid? (they didnt)

the photo they took is literally just of my windscreen, not even the car 'in situ'.

    You're not quite getting this.

They will become "threatening" - the whole point, from their side, is to scare people into paying. Never, never, ever, contact them.

Valid? The whole thing has no validity anyway, whether they put a ticket on your car or turn into ice-skating mongooses and dance the bolero.

  • thank you and no, bargepole, i am not going to contact them.

martins advice does however say to contact them in certain cicumstances and he does give sample letters which i why i questioned it.

i dont like being threatened, im no mouse trust me but i have a family to think of etc and u never know what kinda people they employ. i just dont want anyone coming round the house, and as my partner owns it not me hes worried about that.

It's extremely rare for PPCs to send debt collectors to someone's door, and even if they did, they have no more powers than you or I so just ask them to leave.

Far more likely is that they'll send a letter from ABC Debt Collectors, with lots of red writing and chequered borders, and when you look at their address, it's the same as the parking company - all that happens is that Sharon passes the file to Tracey at the next desk in the portakabin, and she has different headed paper.
