I have followed advice on here and not paid my UNFAIR parking fine. They have sent letters saying their sending bay lifts but have not. They have now apparantly passed my details onto their solicitors who have sent me a notice of intended litigation and have told me that owe them £207.25 which I will refuse to pay... Could anyone advise me on where to go from here please?
Many thanks

Just continue to ignore. This is all part of the threatogram chain of letters. Just another hollow threat. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
I concur with the above posters.

It will be a very unlikely they will call you or turn up at your door. If they don't make an appointment for that visit then they are in breach of the Consumer Credit Act.
I suppose I'm really querrying peoples experience of whether to write to them with the evidence of my ticket in the hope that it would close their interest once and for all.
As mentioned Iam aware of the legalities and the process but wouldn't want to uneccessarily burden someone else (the OH) with any inconvieninece if a simple letter with proof of ticket it will make it go away sooner.
Any other thoughts.........Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

I know what you mean - I got a 'penalty charge notice' in a Travelodge (haven't been back since - now use Premier Inn - much higher standards) and despite having displayed a valid permit was alleged to have not done so.
I toyed with the idea of simply writing to the PPC to confirm this but after searching here and Pepipoo I found that people who do this are usually told they still have to pay, that their 'appeal' has been 'rejected' and are subsequently sent further unlawful threats.
Ignore them and let them take you to court. If they have the guts to do this (very rare), then you can produce the ticket and their already flawed court claim will collapse.
No need to worry about the advice to ignore - for example, I am aware of a very well known international company whose legal department policy is to ignore all communication per se, unless it emanates from a global 100 law firm, or a court.
There are some (e.g. PPC's) who say that ignoring correspondence breaks pre-protocols but you wouldn't lose a case just because you didn't reply to their letter and frankly with the unlawful and intimidatory nature of their threats they probably wouldn't want to put it before a Judge anyway.0 -
Even Carter Ruck would have difficulty adding any serious weight to the claims of these companies.0

Please help
I was issued with a parking fine about 3 weeks ago. I purchased a ticket from the meter and placed it on the dashboard of my vehicle. However the weather was awful that day and the ticket got wet. I shut the door and checked the ticket was visible and what time it was to elapse. Then off I went to do my shopping and other bits.
When I returned to the vehicle I had a notice fixed to my windscreen for a fine for not displaying a valid parking ticket. It was not where I had left it on the dash. It transpires that because the ticket had become wet it curled up on the dash as it dried and had then rolled off onto the floor. Now it does state on the ticket that I must ensure that it is left in a visible place in the vehicle, but this I did and it obviously rolled off AFTER I had left the vehicle.
Anyway I paid the fine as I didn’t want it to increase as I was told by the company that I could appeal because of extenuating circumstances. I did this and enclosed a copy of the parking ticket and fine but they have rejected it because it was my responsibility to display the ticket. As I see it the only way to ensure the ticket is always on display is to stay with the vehicle which negates the reason for parking in the first place.
Does anyone have any advice for me on this?

The was a ticket from a Private Parking Company or from a council ?
In either instance you should never return to the ticket.
What exactly do mean by "and fine" ? Did you submit payment ?0 -
Hello...I am hoping somebody can help me, I have just received a letter from roxburghe debt collectors regarding a parking ticket received on 18/02/10 from a private car park. They are stating in the letter that my fine has been increased due to late payment charges, and I have to pay within 7 days? is this actually correct, how can they increase the fine by 5times!! has anybody else experienced this and what should I do???0

Please note it's not a "fine", it's an unenforceable invoice. Don't be worried about that letter, it's all part of the scare tactics they employ to try and bully people into paying. Just follow the advice on here about ignoring their letters and please do not contact them. Many, many people have had similar letters and nothing has happened to them. It's just hollow threats. Some people might even call it demanding money with menaces. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0
