Where was your best holiday and why?

I often find talking to friends there is one holiday that always sticks in their memory as their best yet.

Mine was going to stay on Castaway Island in Fiji on route back from a round the world trip, it was everything I could have wanted and more, the staff couldn't do enough for us.

It is suitable for any traveller, nextdoor were honeymooners, behind us a disabled chap (staff wheeled him to the sea to snorkle every day) and then there was ourselves with a 7 month old.

It is ideal for families with the chance of babysitting whatever the hour and a kids club from dawn to dusk. Food was good, staff out number visitors and all are friendly.

I would definitely go back

What was your favourite holiday (please name the resort or hotel you went to) and why?

Ours were several and all for different reasons.
First holday we ever had just as a couple a very late honeymoon (9 years late) we coudlnt afford anything when we got married and we finaly got he chance to go away from a week no kids just us 2. Long before the days of searching on the net for cheapies we managed to get Kos AOA for 99 each we got placed inthe Norida Beach hotel when it was first opened and got put in a room ....well more like our own villa in the hill side with fantastic views of to Turkey it was heaven.
2nd one was I had always promised myself when we had our son I would find the money some how to take him to Disney Florida before he was 10. It wasnt look to go we still hadnt got any money. Well to cut a long story short me and a friend went to bingo on our usual night and she won the National and she shared with me, I went straight out and booked Florida and to see his face when he met all his favouirt charaters was worth every single penny. We have been back several times since but none ever compare to that time
3rd was our last holiday with our friends in the Seychelles she was dieing with cancer and we knew she didnt have long left (she was only 30) those 2 weeks were very precious
I know it all sounds corny but you did ask...lol
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel

My first holiday with my OH was great. We didn't have a large budget so we found the cheapest destination that Ryanair did for our dates and went from there. We flew to Biarritz and I'd found a hotel not far from the Pyrenees in quite a medieval village. The food was simply divine in that region, hardly any tourists because it was out of season (September), clean air, lovely scenery, fantastic wine and it was all so cheap! The last few days of that holiday were spent in Biarritz, sitting next to the sea, watching surfers, reading books and eating the freshest sea food.

Don't get me wrong, we've had other good holidays but the Pyrenees was fantastic because of the divine food!

  • went to Disneyland Paris last month. Fantastic holiday especially as most of it was 'free' as it was paid for with Tesco Points!
  • My 4 kids' favourite holiday is to Duinrell theme park, water park and holiday park, all in one resort, at Wassenaar in Holland - cheapest with https://www.selectcamp.co.uk, caravans or tents.

The adults' favourite holiday was to Thailand (took only 1 child) a year ago, after 4 months working in Pakistan, and in particular the days we spent at the Sofitel Central Hotel in Hua Hin for only £40 a night for one of the world's top hotels.

    Probably in this order;

    New Zealand
    Alaska
    Hong Kong
    USA (lots of places)
    Canadian Rockies
    Australia

Some people will be surprised that Australia is at the bottom but not my cup of tea (apart from the Great Barrier Reef).

Going to Scotland mountain biking last year. Seven of us, we went out every day doing routes and the whole holiday cost me less then I would have spent at home.

Never do things tomorow when you can do them today.
  • The Dominican Republic 1997.

It was before we had kids so we stayed in a 4* hotel that didn't allow them. Great food, great company, beautiful setting. A totally relaxing holiday in paradise. We still look through the photos regularly.
