Well, a glitch seems to allow some of their customers to soft swap with no penalty:
Important Info for EquiGas PrePay Customers

I hope they will not allow you to change meters without payment. They do not charge you more if you pay via prepay so why should they spend money (ie charge their other customers higher unit rates) subsidising an unnecessary physical switch? If other companies choose not to handle prepay meters equally that's their problem.

How strange  How much cheaper are those rates than the ones people in Wales are paying at the moment? The gas one, I mean. Anyone?

EDIT: What a drongo, just realised those prices are for ALL regions. Ignore me. :o
    Including vat @ 5%
    Supply :
    Payment method :
    Tier 1 Tier 2
Supply area pence per kwh pence per kwh
    All Regions 8.484 3.669
    Notes
    1. Tier 1 applies to the first 2680 kWh per annum and all subsequent consumption is charged at Tier 2.
    2. These prices apply to customers using mains gas and to customers using piped propane in Llanfyllin, Llanwrtyd Wells, Colden and Stornoway.

Ebico prices are 'benchmarked' against those of SSE

    http://www.ebico.co.uk/html/x_archive.php

There's some confusion what this actually means, but history has shown that since this announcement ebico review & revise their prices whenever SSE change theirs (although not by the same amounts)

Scottish and Southern Energy says it is considering cutting fuel prices in the new year.

Does anyone know if Ebico, or other suppliers, will be passing on the VAT reduction to customers?
