Software for children with learning difficulties

This is a great site with free downloadable software for children with learning difficulties. It would also be appropriate for very young children too.

This site is worth a look for educational software:

    http://www.greyolltwit.com/

It used to be free but now requires a one off fee of £9.99. I used to use some of these programs with children when they were free, and I would think they are very cheap at the price (there are nearly two hundred). Main stream as well as children with special needs can enjoy and profit from them. You might do a search and find a program or two being offered free somewhere. Worth a look.

    From the authors site

"One of my sons suffers from ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). I produced these programs for him. Many parents and teachers of ADD/ADHD children have told me they really work for these youngsters, in fact all those with special needs."

  • Artrage is free and brilliant, especially because it is like real painting but without the mess!

    Download:
    http://www.ambientdesign.com/artragedown.html

    For Windows and Mac.

"ArtRage is a free painting package that lets you play around with realistic painting tools in a simple, intuitive environment. ArtRage lets you paint your own picture from a blank canvas, or load an image to 'trace' using any of its painting tools, letting you recreate your own images as paintings."

I love priorywoods and have been using it for ages at work (I am a special needs teacher). If you have children do play the sleepy farmer story -children up to 12 (no special needs!) seem to universally love it.
  • These links are excellent! I work with adults who have disabilities and am just going through the process with my Hubby to be approved as a respite foster carer for children who have disabilities, so these links are absolutely spot on!

    Thanks so much everyone!
