  • I bought the first (of two) Xmas prezzies today. It cost £39.99. Not so remarkable but, with my new found frugality, I made sure that I used cash from my day's business takings rather than use a CC. CC's have a bad habit of being allowed to build up if used. I just show it as a draw on the books even though it never actually reached the bank account. Also, I bought 6 eggs. I compared all the prices. I buy smaller eggs these days for chea(e)pness as I still eat the same number anyway. Nearly got caught out by caged hen eggs as I didn't have reading specs with me. I will buy cheap eggs but not from hens that have been banged up.

Me too, some things I will happily pay a premium on - free range eggs being one;)
    Reduce,re-use, recycle.

  • Hey with you on that - no caged eggs, funny the things we won't stint on.

Decent washing up liquid (ecover or something good)
Mayonaise - decent french stuff or hellmans
Eggs - local always would rather go without than eat caged
Fruit juice - (not from concentrate - dentist once told me more calcuim in fresh juice than milk and that the concentrated stuff isnt nice for your health or your teeth
Loo roll - recycled but good stuff
    Sausages >80% meat
infact any meat product that isnt as close to 100% meat content and local - as we can get - rather go without. (my pal calls it happy meat)

Think thats my little things that I can't stint on - mostly we do stripey/value stuff but not for somethings, rather go without.

Mostly we go without alot - :) baked beans on toast rocks
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
    :money:Sleeves up folks.:money:

:D My mind boggles as to what recycled loo paper actually is. I guess it's OK so long as it wasn't previously used as loo paper. Yuk !!

Also, I have found that the cheapo baked beans are just fine. Sometimes I might stick a bit of (cheapo) tomato sauce on them to help things along but for the most part, I find downsizing to cheaper brands is no problem at all. In fact, the only downsizing seems to be the prices.

    Hello hellowave.gif

I have recently started looking at the DFW area, having mainly used the site for comping in the last couple of months. As you'll see from my signature, I have joined the PAD thread and am now a fully subscribed member of the Sealed Pot 2 challenge!

If there's room for one more, I'd like to put in my tuppence worth in your DFW thread so, today I have:
    • Made my Payment A Day to my Barclaycard of £1.77
    • Put £1.85 in the Sealed Pot (Well, in true MSE style it's a sealed margarine tub that I have wrapped in Christmas paper!)
    • Put other coins in the tub this morning, just can't remember how many!
    • Checked my online banking
    • Checked my Barclaycard on online banking - I have set myself a challenge to get the balance under £1000 by the end of December
    • Brought in a flask to work for coffee, had a bad day though and ended up buying one cup of tea from the canteen
Hopefully posting with you all will become part of my daily DFW routine now! Hope to see you all soon,

Was meant to have a LSD today but sold a book on amazon last night and posted it today and an ebay item also sold. Then called in Tesco's next to Post Office for some milk (£1.53) and gave in to some hot chocolate (£2.99) and 2 bars of green and black (£2.50 £95p off) and some reduced brie for crackers and lunch tomorrow with HM soup.

Feel sad now at spending £8.35 in Mr T and £5.45 on P+P cost
Will have NSD tomorrow and then car MOT on Fri.

Still managed a payment a day to my store card jar of a few coppers and another day on my 100 day challenge, maybe things aren't that bad after all?

    DFW things today then are:

Bought whoopsie Brie for lunch Thurs and Fri at work with HM soup
Took HM soup and biccies for today
Put tea onto to cook in SC before left for work, nice suprise when I got back from work as I had forgotten about this :D
Overnight last night made rice pud in SC for dessert tonight:D
Few coppers into payment jar, a few pennies helping the PAD cause

See you all tomorrow, hope the weather didn't freeze everyone too much, I have a banket wrapped round me to help the heating along!
final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333

  • Evening... a very late one from me tonight as I've been a busy girl all day. I've already had cold so everyone who's snuffling has my sympathies and I know you're all generous and everything but I really don't want it back :)

Seeing as the majority of the day is done, most of these things have been accomplished.

    My list:
    • Checked internet banking. My OH has paid back some of what he owes me so that is all cool beans.
    • Checked for surveys. Done a few throughout the day.
    • Put some pennies in my sealed pot. I'm purposefully not counting how much goes in because I want it to be a surprise for when it comes out :D
    • Posted Natwest letter to open joint savings with the dear OH. The only thing we've ever saved for together is a holiday so saving for a house is slightly more scary.
    • Received money off younger brother to pay for his share of the internet costs this month and some towards my Mum's Crimble present. In return, I did give him a cheque for £50 from my work for some photography work he did for us. Nepotism at its best.
    • Storecupboard sandwich with soggy out of date crisps for dinner, scrambled egg and chopped tomato on toast for tea. You can all keep your beans :D
    • Brought 12 bottles of beer home from work that were left over from our conference... there are worse freebies :D
    Tonight I will:
    • Put some dubbin on my boots. Snow is forecast for South Yorkshire tomorrow and I'm hoping it's enough to justify staying in bed all day (please please please snow deity, make this happen!) In case I do have to make the effort though, I don't want soggy feet.
    • Make my pack-up tonight, to leave me ample time for trying to get to work/playing in the show in the morning.
    • Do the washing up to cheer my Mum up.
    • Make sure I have enough warm clothes tomorrow in case I have to walk to work. It'd be an interesting 6 miles... trek up one hill only to have to slide down the other side.
    • Probably go to bed early. Saving central heating but making it no easier to get up in the morning.
Have a nice evening all, and I guess I will see you tomorrow (please please please let me be posting from home tomorrow :D)
  • loving the wave ff, where did you find it??!!
    December 2018: £20,850.24. Now: £18,333.02 Total paid in 2019: £2517.22

    Weight loss: 1.5lbs
  • Oh dear this doesn't seem as cheerful a thread as normal - everyone is ill or just sounding a bit down... well not everyone I've only had a quick flick...

I think it's going to be one of those days though..

    Mid week blues!!

I've got to catch up on all the activities I've been promising I'll be doing so tonight
    *Pack
    *Ebay items
*Dig Xmas Decorations out of loft
*Sort out free money I can get on Quidco
    *Paint nails

I've written it all down in my diary to remind me.... If I don't get this done I expect a severe telling off from everyone as I won't have a chance before hols otherwise!!!

Remember 2.5 days until the weekend :)

Hmmm it's 8 o clock and I don't seem to have got started... just going to finish soup and I'll be right onto it!! Where does the motivation go on days(weeks!) like this? :rotfl: :rotfl:
