Problem with teenager and benefits

If she does not go to college or contribute to the household then throwing her out IS an option, which in the long term would be better for her and you. I threw my son out when he was 17 and the council found him supported lodgings with a family as the council has a duty to house 16/17/18 year old's. After a year he was moved into a flat in a complex for young adults with mental health problems. He has been there 3 months now and is glad i threw him out.
You have to decide what is more important and follow your heart.0 -
Parents that are too soft cause their kids a lot of problems in later years and ultimatley themselfs as they have to help them sort out the mess.
Couldn't have said it better myself. OP - at your daughters age I packed up and moved 70 miles away from my family into my own flat and HAD to work to survive. It gave me independance and security in knowing that I could look after myself without relying on anyone. I would lay the cards on the table, like someone else said tell her what you have lost moneywise and what extra bills you now have to pay, tell her she has to pay that as a minimum or leave, give her so long to get a job (let's face it there's plenty of Xmas temp jobs around at the moment which is what I got all them years ago to get money in the pot.) If she doesn't do this then she will have to find somewhere and someone else to sponge off.0
