You know why Kenny ??, because it's always someone elses fault, it's never theirs. How the hell do people ring up 10's of thousands on credit cards ??, they do it because they can then throw the towel in and walk away.
I would make bankruptcy (when incurred by reckless spending, rather than, say a failed business attempt), I would make it hang your neck for 25 years, no credit, nothing. It might make them think, if that's possible.
I absolutely agree .... there is no bloody excuse for it.
It makes me mad as hell that folk can just waste cash on holidays 4X$, etc and walk away from it,. I agree a legitimate business venture that goes under is a different kettle of poissons.0 -
Ok, ok.... it was me:o, I just wanted to shout at myself. I think I'm going mad:D
I know I shouldn't but I believe you.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
What if people couldnt go bankrupt?
The americans, for business, have chapter 11, which gives you time to sort out the debts, but you still have to pay them off somehow.
Or if people do go bankrupt, no benefit claims!0 -

I am on the front line as I retail ''Unimportant, totally useless, but very lovely' consumer goods.I absolutely agree .... there is no bloody excuse for it.

The 120k went into the economy and businesses that provided them with the hols, cars, meals out and stuff.
Thing is, I didn't ever sit down and wonder where the money in our till came from.
I'm sure I have funded our lives during the past few years from an honest business model that had 30% of it's T/O generated from crazy bank lending.
A quick tot up could put that at a million pounds gross. It was my fault for flogging the unsuspecting luvverly frocks.:o
Makes planning for the future much easier tho'
....no-one I speak to in Real Life Land seems to have worked this out...think things are going to ''be back to normal'' next summer. 0 -
Just to say, it wasn't. On that note though, do people seriously have loads of usernames on here ? Is there actually only 5 of us, with multiple personalities ?
You talking to me, or me, or me, or me, what about me?
I knew I shouldn't have fallen for that! dam,'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. We have now identified the person behind the global credit crunch.
I hope that you are happy at the pain and distress you have caused on a global scale, there are children being forced to live in houses that are worth tens of thousands of pounds less than the outstanding mortgage ..... and why ...... because of your ..... luvverly frocks .....
WE HAVE FOUND SATAN !!!
we'll let you off this time but next time there is no hiding place.0 -

Trouble is, there were, and still are, lots of us.....earning an honest living from selling things to people.
Still leaves 70% (roughly) out and about eating, shopping within their means.
So, 30% of us have to go...for a few years. Simple case of less demand so less outlets.
My sector has changed massively anyway...so we are changing our whole business model to adapt to it.
The not so good stores / restaurants are beginning to falling away first...but some good stuff will also go.0 -
That people think things will "be back to normal" in 6 months just shows how unrealistic they are. What they regard as normal was a 10 year exercise in spending unearned wealth via cheap money. Totally unsustainable.Happy chappy0
