Just came across this thread next door. Gobsmacked;

When every tom, !!!!!! and harriet is trying to jump onto a bandwagon, risking their financial security in the process, is it not the Govt's place to protect the population from itself?
(or is a mortgage broker scamming a commission/bank mis-selling in the offing?)
I guess I should ask, is this actually a valid thread - I can't believe it should be, but with the mess we are in, maybe this sort of thing was going on, and still might slip through.
Or does someone wish to own up to the wind-up?!

I'm trying to get a buy to let mortgage and I am told that I need a minimum income of £25000. Although my income is at £25000 the majority of it is in tax credits. My question is is do tax credits class as income when applying for a mortgage?

But there's no debt problem in the country, didn't you know...
The entire population is as clever as some of the cleverest posters on here.
So they know exactly what they are doing financially. Every single one of them.0 -

25k, mostly in tax credits !!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!????????, must have about 10 kids, has no idea what the word 'work' means:mad:, This is Clowns fault, handing out my f**kin hard earned to mingers. How the f**k do we get to a point where this sort of thing can happen.
An absolute disgrace.
Rant Over......................... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!!!!!!
Edit.... I haven't finished yet, need a mortgage does she/it........... well why doesn't Clown just give her a house for free, say a nice 5 bed detached that she can put her 27 kids in and a garden big enough to stick a couple of rusty bangers in that have no tax or insurance on.0 -
It just shows what a sham buy to let is. Borrow as much money (other people's money) as you can and have a big gamble on the property market. Gamble fails, declare yourself bankrupt and let others pick up the bill0

This bankruptcy stuff absolutely Ffing infuriates me.
Lets have a jolly good time rack up loads of debt, then write it off. Result, companies go under as they are not paid/companies make less money and pay less tax/Prudent debt adverse people are screwed over, because companies need to recoup there loss somehow.
If you've spent it you should pay for it. :mad:0 -

You know why Kenny ??, because it's always someone elses fault, it's never theirs. How the hell do people ring up 10's of thousands on credit cards ??, they do it because they can then throw the towel in and walk away.
I would make bankruptcy (when incurred by reckless spending, rather than, say a failed business attempt), I would make it hang your neck for 25 years, no credit, nothing. It might make them think, if that's possible.0 -

That can go with the 200k non mortgage debt.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

This makes two.
I just looked through the SOA quickly and cannot believe that the CC co's lent so much to 2 people.
He doesn't say what his wife earnt whilst working but the CC companies just kept on approving more and more credit to them....and, yes, they took it, BUT surely someone at Barclaycard or Egg or wherever should have looked at how much was racking up before giving another card.
BR must be a really hard process to go through plus can take years to recover from.
I am on the side of blaming the banks more.....sometimes we 'need' saving from ourselves.0
