I have just received my AA spend and save card and am hoping tis will prove to be a good way of maintaining my ability to pay for things online - the charges seem moderate and the points system MAY prove worth something over time. I am unsure as to whether I will be able to use it as a registeed card for PayPal as yet - time will tell.debt free 2021 at current DMP rate[/COLOR] (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0

My 16 year old daughter is going to India for 3 weeks over Christmas and New Year this year. I want to give her a pre paid mastercard/Visa for her to use when she's there. Does anyone have any recommendations? I've looked at the Caxton FX Global traveller but she has to be 18 for that.
Thanks

Hi
Has anyone had any RECENT experience of this card ie 2011 onwards?
It would seem, from reading some of the older posts on here, that some of the costs and benefits of owning and using one have changed. I'm already a UW mobile customer (their sim only deals are very competitive) and am currently swayed more into the "get one" camp, than the "don't get one", but would appreciate hearing people's views, opinions and experiences of owning one. From what I can work out, even with the monthly cost, 35p charging cost, and "lack of" consumer rights cover (vs credit card), the potential savings using this card for your normal shopping (as opposed to any other cash back card) more than outweigh the associated costs.
I'd certainly appreciate some people's view points before I take the plunge.
Many thanks
Stripee
I have electricity (no gas as I'm off the main) and three mobiles and last month we had £60 credited on our bill.
It works at 20 or stores stores (Asda are pulling out at the end of December) and about 2000 online shops.0 -
The first rule of thumb must be not to pay for something which promises to give you magic beans off your giant beanstalk come the end of the world or thereabouts.
The cheapest prepaid card for regular use is probably still the Cashplus Mastercard at £29.99 a year. No loading or usage or monthly fees. You can use in real life, online, load via faster payments, pay direct debits and standing orders. Essentially it is another bank account. You could add cashbuilder for a few pounds a month and lose the annual fee.
I looked at this for a prepaid card a couple of years ago and nothing else came close. Since then they have massively increased the benefits but retained the same pricing structure. I also have a couple of additional cards on the same account for emergencies. Advertised protection as well.
I'd like to her of one which betters this deal and the card in this topic certainly does not.0 -
Apologies if this has been discussed already but speed is necessary and I don't have time to read through all the messages.
I have a collection for a very special lady in France, reaching 90 years old this month and although buying a special gift we want to send the excess funds to her in the form of a Prepaid Euros Giftcard.
I did a quick search last night and found a link to Visa, saying they did one but it didn't give details on how to purchase it or a link to take me further.
Any help or advice gratefully accepted - many thanks.0 -
OK, so I can see the benefit of the Cashplus Credit Builder. How about if you're not interested in paying the extra for it? How does the card alone stack up?Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

I have received a $50 prepaid visa debit prepaid card from a company I completed a survey for.
I have checked the online profile of the card and it states it has the $50 loaded on to it.
Would I be able to use this in the UK, or does anyone have any experience of how I can transfer funds over to cash or another card/account.
Thanks

A bit late I know, but if you open an account as a parent, any child over the age of 13 can have a card - I've just got one for my stepson to take on a school ski-ing trip incase of emergencies.0 -
Hi all,
I wanted to give my friend a credit card of some type for her 30th bday and wondered how and which one to get. Is there one that i can just buy and load that can have her name on and not mine?

Lebara prepaid card comes with two cards , the second card can have someone else's name on it and the main cardholder can transfer funds from their card to the second card
At the moment the card is free if you make an initial load of £20 when applying (fee free by debit card in my case) , also they are offering £5 cashback if you load with £100

Lyca Money offer a prepaid card without a name on it if purchased from a shop , or apply online and they offer a companion card which may have someone else's name on it (£4.99)
