Here we go - DMP Started Yesterday

well Hello everyone - I have been lurking and reading here since the end of October - which for me was the day of realisation.

Without going into boring whys and wherefors I have started my debt management plan through Payplan yesterday.

It is a horrific amount of debt and currently I am paying the minimum towards it but as my job is basic plus commission I plan to throw all my commission at the debt.

Soooooo my pledge is by Christmas 2009 to have made a huge hole in my debt and be on my way to a debt free future.

Also can I just say I havent used a credit card since 12th November which for me is more or less unheard of - and I cut up my credit cards into a big pile and they are my screen saver on my laptop and mobile hehehehe

Anyway I wanted to say that you guys on here saved my sanity over some dark dark mornings and evenings last month and to all those that are reading this and are in the depths of despair I am really really with you xxxxx

I know where you are coming from!!! Very therapeutic! I sent my cut up cards back to my creditors as they had requested, and what did they do....send me replacement cards!!!...which promptly got cut up again and recycled!

Seriously its the best call I ever made - I was in floods of tears to this poor man and felt such a failure. The shame I felt at having to do this was immense! I was sleeping for about two hours a night and tearing myself apart but after that one call I felt about 20 years younger. I have had two of my creditors call me so far and I have told them my DMP ref number and they have both frozen my accounts in readyness for the offers. Now as my offers are going to be awfully low I am expecting a bumpy ride but hey ho it was my decision to get into debt so I have to 'suck it up' and deal with it. I have a shiny new folder marked - default notices and am filing the letters and liaising with my DMP case manager and feel for the first time in control.

The switching bank accounts and getting my salary paid into the new account went smoothly too so big thumbs up there too.

At my worst point as a student, BOS tried to raise my limit to £10.5k, which I refused. I was earning £3k.
  • We are in the process of setting up a dmp with CCCS, the pile of cut up credit cards amazed me, I couldn't believe there were so many.

Contacting CCCS was the best decision I made and now I can honestly say Im really looking forward to Christmas this year instead of dreading it xx
