Are O2 Sony Ericsson PAYG phones unlocked?

Edit:
The Sony Ericsson K800i seems just the job, the only problem is that she is on Orange and definitely wants to stay with Orange. I can't seem to find a K800i on Orange from a big name shop/website ie Argos, Tesco, Amazon. I have found O2 K800i's on O2 but was wondering whether she'll be able to use her Orange sim in these. I know all my O2 contract phones have been unlocked but was wondering whether PAYG O2 phones are normally unlocked?
I want to buy a PAYG phone that has a decent camera on for an Xmas pressie, the person in question currently has a Sony Ericcson phone. Do all Sony Ericcsons have similar menu functions?
I'm a Nokia girl through and through and would never get anything else as I could buy another Nokia and use it straight out of the box. Are SE's similarly intuitive? I don't think they would mind getting a different make but if they all work roughly the same it makes more sense to get a Sony Ericcson.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts

No, if you buy from the operator direct the payg phone will more than likely be locked to that network. However, if you go the a carphonewarehouse and buy a payg phone, it will more than likely come unlocked, and just to be sure you can ask in the store when you're buying. And just to add, the k800i is a fantastic phone. I was a total Nokia fan, had nothing but Nokia's for years but was swayed by the camera on the k800i, gave it a try , I've had 3 SE phones since and and never looked back, just as simple out of the box as a Nokia.Sigless0

PAYG phones tend to be locked, O2's are, but their monthly ones are just branded.
CPW get all their phones from a single stock, so if bought there it should be unlocked.0 -
