You don't see the outside of it when you're driving!

Yes, and you don't really have anywhere to put your shopping either or a bag when going on holiday. It is basically a motorcycle in a shell.... Probably the ugliest car ever... And no space in the back! If you are looking for a 2 seater, get Smart - at least it will be easy to park!

I'm not a big KA fan, but last summer had to source a soft top StreetKA for a customer - it's her 3rd KA, I've supplied her with, all have been pretty much trouble free, so she's happy.

Most owners do seem to appreciate their 'simple' design, older engines & other than the known rust matters, a reasonable 1st car,

A bit of a left-field suggestion here: Nissan Almera.

Built like a tank. Very reliable. Very cheap second hand. Likely to be low-mileage because they're mostly owned by OAPs. Cheap insurance.

You can get a 2003 car with about 50k miles on it for £2000 if you look around.

Peugeot 106 diesel, 1.5 engine. Dirt cheap to run, good supply of cheap parts, but I've never actually bought any in the last two years.
