And anyway, no one in Clapham could ever get a seat on the Northern Line from what I remember (I was a smug Mordenite who got a seat both ways to and from work every day!).

Getting a seat makes all the difference doesn't it. Our nearest station is Wimbledon but as the trains are so packed with Surrey commuters by the time it reaches here. My husband walks the slightly longer distance to South Wimbledon as he can always get a seat that way.

I love living in London tbh (been here 4 years now), where I live ain't great, but it's certianly not a hitshole either. In zone 1 & 2 you're all cheek by jowl anyway.

Several luvvy darlings less than a 10 min walk, but so is the spot where a well publicised murder was committed.

House prices are plummeting in the capital which is surely great news for almost everyone who lives there.

Surely it's only good for people who don't live there but wish to?
    Being pedantic, I know.
There's a lot of people that are going to be looking at negitive equity.

A lot of people live there without owning, they rent.

And there is a younger generation who still live at home. If I was 15 I'd be delighted to see prices drop.

If I was 15 and living in London I would be planning on buying after I finish school/uni. By then many houses in nice areas will be under 100K (that is what this thread is all about).

I am going to keep my eye closely on the sites that show sold prices in London. I will revive this thread as soon as I see a house in London sold for sub 100K. It could be sooner than many are thinking.......

Isnt Nottingham the murder capital now?

As people have said, in even the most expensive areas there will be doss holes round the corner.

London is still the most expensive area in the UK in general. Its not immune to the seriousness of this crisis however.

Just think if homes are being sold for sub 100K now what will similar homes be selling for when the full effects of the credit crisis (formally known as the credit crunch) are in full swing?

This got me curious so I had a quick look on Rightmove and found this:

I am sure there is plenty wrong with this flat, but given the location this is still probably a bargain - looks like the crash is well and truly upon us!
