Yes but i'm still waiting for a response.

It is 8 days from opening the dispute to being able to close it and reclaim your fees, keep an eye on that time frame as ebay will not remind you.

  • If the item you're selling is prone to scammers bidding, maybe you could offer it to pre-approved bidders only?

Unfortunately ebay has removed the option for pre-approved bidders

as well as blocking bidders with no credit card on file or with no registered paypal account, block bidders from countries you don't ship to then only ship within the UK

Listing as a BIN with immediate payment required may help

If you can get the fraudulent bidders naru'd you can claim back the final value fees quicker

If the buyer has feedback then hes most likely using a hijacked account

Us the email link here to report another members account stolen

    or

    >>choose selling after I've sold>>Problems with my buyer >> state the buyer is using a hijacked account

Ebay remove some listings from the database so before you report to ebay make a note of the item number because if you fees aren't credited back to your account you will need to contact live help and ask them for your fvf refund

info on unpaid item disputes in the link

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/unpaid-items.html

You can open an unpaid item case in the Resolution Centre 7-45 days after the sale if you don't receive payment from the buyer
The buyer has up to 7 days to respond to your case.
You need to close your case within 60 days from the time of the transaction.
    • You're credited the Final Value Fee and your trading partner is reported to our Trust and Safety team.
    • On the 61st day after the end of the transaction, if you haven't closed your case, eBay automatically closes it and you are not credited the Final Value fee. Your trading partner isn't automatically reported to our Trust and Safety team.
    • Once your case is closed by you or eBay, you can't reopen the case.

    Hi,

I've been trying to sell an item on ebay for the past 2 months. I've managed to sell it 5 times! Unfortunately each time, the buyer turned out to be a fraudulent time waster.

That's how ebay is these days.

The one thing I listed in the last 6 months got a bid but the buyer vanished.

The one thing I bid on (a car) turned out to be stolen (ran an hpi check on the morning I was going to collect it).

Ebay's not the place it used to be.

It sounds like someone is trying to wreck your auctions. Open a new account with a completely different username and try again.

Seems pretty extreme that an AW would go to the trouble of hacking 5 separate accounts just to do this.

My guess is that it's a high risk item and OP has just been very unlucky.

Just comes to show how flawed ebay's security is. I mean if somebody can hack into 5 separate accounts alarm bells should start ringing.

Judging by how i've been treated, they don't seem to be taking this problem very seriously.

My issue still hasn't been resolved.

    The wait continues...the frustration grows!

There's never a shortage of people letting their account get compromised.

    Spyware / trojans
    Internet cafes
    Phishing emails
    Letting people have your passwords

Ebay can't legislate against people's weak IT security.

  • Hi,

After several strong emails, i got through to ebay 'trust & safety'. After reviewing my account, they've decided to refund all my fees, including insertion fees.

Thanks to everyone for their advice
