Victim of fraudulent ebay purchase - 5 Times!

Hi,
I've been trying to sell an item on ebay for the past 2 months. I've managed to sell it 5 times! Unfortunately each time, the buyer turned out to be a fraudulent time waster.
I've asked ebay to refund my fees but they're refusing to do so. Instead they keep sending me the same generic email telling me to take precautions. I've followed all their advice but to no avail.
Now they're refusing to refund any fees. Clearly it is ebay's responsibility to root out these scammers and they've failed - on 5 occasions!
Is this a case for compensation? Can i report ebay to a higher authority?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Give us some more info and we'll help. Although 5 times scammers sounds rather like you have a red flag on your auctions or you haven't set your seller preferences correctly.
have you set any seller preferences if so go back and check if you can make them stricter. make sure you don't have any silly terms in your auctions like 'not responsible fo rlost items' or such like..as they seme to inflame people.

Thanks for the reply,
I don't have a red flag on my auction and i've followed all of ebay's instructions regarding setting seller preferences.
More specifically, scammers have hacked into 5 legitimate accounts and bid on my item. On auction end, I get an email from ebay saying that the transaction was fraudulent - the account was used without the owner's permission.
Is ebay's security that flawed that this can happen to me 5 times. Surely it is their responsibility to root out these time wasters.
And now they're refusing to pay my fees. I don't see why I should have to pay for the actions of fraudsters.
Ebay only have 1 customer support email and they usually take 2 days before responding. Is their anyone else i can take this up with?
I really appreciate your help,0 -
You need to open up unpaid item disputes for all of them if you haven't yet done so.My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
If the item you're selling is prone to scammers bidding, maybe you could offer it to pre-approved bidders only?0

Take them to court. Write thewm a letter and say you will be taking them to small claims unless they sort it out. But is it worth the hassle?
If as you say they have told you 5 times the accounts have been hacked then I would be seriously hacked off.
How many sets of fees are they holding back?0 -

They seem to be withholding my insertion fees together with my final value fee. They're not prepared to take responsibility by the looks of it and hide behind their futile, generic emails.0 -
You can't get the listing fees back but an NPB will get you your FVfs back.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Does ebay have any other point of contact - presumably higher than their useless customer support?0
