Help!!!

HI there,

I am not sure what my options are, and although i am trying to search the website for advice, i cant seem to locate help anywhere..

I took out a mobile phone contract with the network 3 on 27th september 2008. i had an excellent signal with the company, and ensured that this was the case by going on their website for coverage,

Unfortunatley, i had to move away (60 miles) very suddenly at the emd of October, as my marriage had come to an end and it was becoming violent. In my new house which i had to take as it was the cheapest and only option, i have no phone signal whatsover. The website highlights that my postcode has marginal coverage. I am unable to use my phone in my house. I have tried to contact 3, to ask if due to these circumsatnces they would cancel my contract, without paying the money to redeem it ( i think it works out at £500+) which they wouldnt do and also have asked could they lower my tariif, whcih again they wont.

Is there any clause or someone i can see to help me get out of the contract, without paying a penalty...

I am not sure what else to do. i need my phone as i have 2 young children 3yrs and 1yr, and heaven forbid if anything happened to them in the middle of the night, i am unable to use my handset. I cannot afford to take out another contract whilst this one is still going on.

Please help

Cath

If you cannot use it at all in your house then I would say it is not marginal. Does it work in the garden ? If not then I think you would have grounds to challenge further as it is not marginal, but zero signal.

unfourtunatly there isn't really much you can do i'm afraid. you agreed to a minnimum term contract and you are now bound by that agreement. you moved to an area with poor reception, but that was after you'd agreed the contract. i'd look into getting a pay as you go that works and then setting a call divert up for when you are at home
:p It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

networks do not guarantee signal within houses. for obvious reasons.

the marginal reception would relate to outside - and marginal would suggest that the coverage is unlikely to be continuous.

Even if there is absolutely 0% coverage inside or outside where you now live they do not have to cancel your contract free of charge.

You took out a contract when you lived in an area with coverage. Just because YOU moved the network does not have to allow you out of the contract - they are not responsible for you moving.

I know your personal circumstances are terrible, but unfortunately that won't make a difference to the network.

    Sorry.
I accept no liability if you chose to rely on my advice.
