Please Help A Mobile Numpty!!

Hiyas

Please can you help a total numpty.

I am leaving a long contract with Vodafone because I had a rubbish experience with them and I no longer want to be tied to a contract. They have given me a PAC code that expires on 5th december so that I can transfer my number to another network. I already have a fancy Samsung phone from my Vodafone Contract and I also have one of the Sony Ericsson J132 phones from Asda as a spare but is still in its box. I really want to keep my phone number. Can I use the PAC code for a PAYG deal only if I go to a different network? and what do I do if I want to keep my existing phone - do I just get a SIM only? Or can I use my old Sim? I just don't get mobile phones!!!!! arrrggghh.

Please help, I am a stressed out mummy who has been scouring the net trying to work it out for herself all day but sadly the babies' pleas must come first.

Would be so very grateful for any advice xx

  • I should have added that I dont make many phone calls - hardly any and I do send about 15 texts a day. I really don't want a contract xxx

  • I think that you can only take your PAC code for another contract. You could always ask Vodafone to make u PAYG, then you wont have to change network or number. They will do it for you, but then i think if you've had enough of them then this may not be an option.

U can buy sim packs for as cheap as £5, but make sure your phone not locked to certain networks otherwise u'll have to deal with the pain of unlocking it to accept different netowrk.

If it was me i'd just ask Voda to change it to PAYG..

    Hope this helps..

  • You just need your PAC and then go to the network you want - I would suggest Asda (8p a min and 4p a text) - however they use Vodafone's network so if your poor experience was partly signal -be warned.

You can use your PAC to transfer to PAYG - not a problem.

If you use Asda PAYG - your existing phone will work with this SIM.

You can change your pac code to whatever network on contract to PAYG and vica versa.

Also , you can get free sims. Tell me what network you want to change to and i will give you the link for some free sims.

    Hope this helps

you are running out of time and it maybe too late. you need to give your pac code to whom ever you are going to move. I think you need to have already got the payg sim you are going to use and give them the IMIE ref along with your pac code to get it moved...

    good luck
  • wow you guys - thanks so much for the advice!!! i dont know which network but asda sounds good as its cheap. would love to get some free sims to use in my other phone which is T mobile (if poss) but keen to keep the same old number. daft i know but i will never remember another one at the moment!!!

thank you so very very much for taking the time to respond, you are all stars ********************
