I have to confess, I only saw it the once and if your overworked, it's probably better to let it go.
You can only do so much to help and educate people, hopefully the website does that and it's been publicised loads now.
Why not replace the tv show with a chain email. Pass this onto 5 people or it'll seriously damage your wealth (think you've got that copywritten already). An a 10 min webcast(whatever it's called) once a week/fortnight from your main page (or a link in the email that we all forward to 5 people for fear of bankrupcy) with the main moneysaving stuff since the last broadcast.
Or theres always radio. Pre recorded of course at your leisure (i'll front it if you like, i've a face for radio). The Money Saving Hour. (I'll copywrite that one lol).0 -
What a shame that in these bleak times where people are so worried that a programme like this has been axed.I myself believe it would be better on a more mainstream channel as quite a few people can't get channel 5.
On the other hand Martin was really tired so in a way it may be a good thing. The poor man has only got so many hours in the day and the e-mail has proved ever popular and the amount of traffic has really increased on the site both through the recession and IPTW.
Think the podcasts are also a good idea.
Whatever you decide to do Martin I wish you luck.I so wish I could've earnt one of those gold piggies as they were lovely...would've looked good on my fireplace.Perhaps you can offer them for sale.0 -
Sorry to see it go, great show that was very helpful and provided a key public service!
Come on BBC this sort of show is the thing they should grab with both hands.Debt Free since March 2008
Thank you Martin Lewis !0 -

If among the 25 proposals on Martin's desk for a new TV programme there's one along the lines of Jamie's School Dinners, I hope Martin will take it. Although I'm not a big fan of copycat TV shows, finance should be a topic in schools and this might be a good way to bring the subject to a wider audience.
I agree with other comments that IPTW was rather manic - and also, as a recipient of the weekly email and a regular reader of the site, I didn't feel I was missing out by not watching regularly, with much information being repeated. But then I probably wasn't the target audience.0 -
Martin, if you are reading this please can you take a look at this thread (RBS One Account Not passing on the interest rate cuts).

It's a shame, the Mrs and I used to watch this. It was one of the few decent TV programs on the telly these days, there is so much trash on there.
Sorry to hear this.My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0 -
Urgent question Martin, since it's nearly Christmas and the season of giving. Um, were there any gold piggies left from the show?
Because I'd love oneAnd I'm sure others would too so wondered if they could maybe be raffled for the MSE Charity or something.

So this will be why I never heard anything more from Guy the production assistant who took over from Laura at MoneySaving Productions. Damn, that's bad news, and I'm angry at five's new management .
What'll go next? The Gadget Show? Fifth Gear? Some of the documentary series they do? Sorry, got off topic there.
To everyone else who suggested that the BBC offers Martin a programme: my first thoughts are: erm, don't they have a few consumer and money programmes already?- Watchdog
- Rogue Traders
- Dom Littlewood on the One Show and has his own series
- Working Lunch (which does cover consumer & business money news)
- The Money Programme
- Alvin Hall used to have a show on BBC2
).
So, yeah, the BBC would indeed be a good new home for "A Show for Martin" (working title; oh, Martin, if you use that working title, bung us some credit, will ya?)
