can i send a free fax via broadband?

Options
I need to fax some ID over to a company but dont have a phone line and was wondering if i could send it over my broadband connection for free. I know of tpc.int but thats for text based fax and i'd be sending a scanned image, I could use the shop over the road but they charge £1 a page, so it would cost me £4.

found a site that does it - http://www.fax1.com , its not free but they give you $1 free to try the service and each page is 12c so enough to send 8 or so faxes.
You don't get the free $1 if you use free email addy eg yahoo hotmail etc

The Phone Company's Remote Printing Service allows you to send a fax for free from your browser or via email. https://www.tpc.int/tpc_home.html

Efax (http://www.efax.com) have a 30-day free trial that lets you send up to 50 pages. You do have to give a credit card but they say it won't be charged until the end of the trial.

    Assuming your on XP:

    Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove Hardware | Add/Remove Windows Components

Put a tick next to: 'Fax Services'

Click 'Next' to finish the install.

    Once installed go to:

    Start | All Programs | Accessories | Communications | Fax | Send a Fax

    Boom ur done :)

don't forget you need the Windows CD to do that

all that is needed then is a modem and a phoneline

Does this also work if you are behind a modem/router please?
