Meant to post this earlier but been unwell for a few days. My scavenge around the car netted me 3€51 :j I've added to that a small handful of shrapnel left after the weeks shopping.

The good thing about being ill was it gave me time to think about the challenge and I've realised that with my current spending habits I'm not going to save much at all. So... a change is in order. I'm going to draw out a months worth of grocery money and use that rather than my debit card. I'll now have to think about what I'm buying and do I really want it. It's frightened me a couple of times when I've left the supermarket and I realise that I've no idea what I've spent. I've been too busy trying to get cards and pin numbers sorted and the trolley re-packed etc. :eek:That has to stop.

Not quite sure what I'll do if there are things for the farm or the renovations along with the groceries but I'll deal with that when it occurs - I've always an emergency note tucked away just in case so I guess I could use that.

I have just decided to do this too....Although I will draw my grocery money out weekly as it goes in each Monday!!! I used to walk around the supermarket adding up as I went along (very roughly) Now I just tend to chuck anything and everything in the trolley and have no idea how much I am spending. I got to the check-out the other week and had spent £94 I nearly fell over...

The other benefit to drawing out the cash is every week I can put the leftover into my sealed pots.

Today I went around and collected up all the change that was laying about the house and put it in the pot, There was nearly £2 in mainly coppers and 5ps.

  • I put some more change in my pot today! Im quite proud really as im in a 2pound savers, 20p savers and sealed pot. And altogether with all pots got about 10 in already and normally i would be digging it out! Just hope this saving thing does last! Because im quite proud so far and excited to actually be saving rather than out spending my money on clothes!
