2 £2 coins to start off the New Year "borrowed" from OH
Happy New Year Everyone!!!!Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
Morning all, I'm feeling rough, rough, rough this morning.:(
Sue, I was intending to give up booze for January, but now it's for life, as I feel so poorly.
Our table was an hour late last night and to keep us happy the restaurant kept plying us with free champagne. I'd already had a few voddies, and then we shared a bottle of wine.:o:o:o:o
We ARE those binge drinkers the government want to stop:rotfl:
Anyhow, we missed the fireworks as our food was so late. Hubby is still in bed. I'm only up as I feel so ill. What a way to welcome 2009.
No pennies in the pottie, but will be raiding hubbies pantaloons later. He needs to be punished for allowing me to drink so much.;)Save me from spending...

Hi all,
I have to admit to counting my money in my pig and vw bettle money box - they are only small.
Anyway I was rather pleased with the results - 120 :eek:50 of which was five pound notes - I think I might be responsible for the shortage of fivers! I'm going to put it into the buildiing society tomorrow.
CxSealed pot challenge 2009 - target £750. Dec - April £275
April NSD - 15/200 -
Today I'm unofficially starting the live on £4,000 for a year challenge, so not sure how often I'll put anything in my pot from now on, probably just pennies I find in the street etc, but if I'm good, will aim to put in the "leftovers" from monthly budgets.........
I'm going to continue to add my shrapnel to my tin, but take it out of my £4 challenge budget as I do so -- so if I spend £1.97 on groceries, then that's £2 out of my grocery budget with 3p of it actually going into my jar - or £3.98 for two bags of dog food means £4 out of the dog budget and 2p into my jar :rolleyes2
If I don't make life complicated I'll go brain dead -- 16 months off work (IT job that involved a fair amount of "number crunching") on sick leave from July 2006 was bad enough, but I've had 6 months 'gardening leave' in 2008 as they went through a redundancy program, and have been out of work since 27th November. Given anything I applied for would be on a lot less pay (which employers don't like) and my sick record (for a back condition that would limit the jobs I could take, and could recur at any time if I were to take on something that involved long periods on my feet or in a chair) my chances of getting a job are pretty much zilch!!
But as I'm not entitled to any means tested benefits (get Widows pension from DH's Occupational Pension, Widowed Parents Allowance, Child Benefit and CTC) I'm under no pressure from DWP to look for anything, so I'm taking my time to get sorted at home and then re-evaluate what I want to do/where I want to get to in a few months time.
I'd also feel guilty chasing a job at the moment -- as there are so many people losing jobs with little/no warning just now, and so many of them don't have any other income to fall back on
I'm seriously considering taking up child-minding -- but for this I have a fair amount of work to do around the house (a lot of it is purely de-junking which will be easier if I'm not trying to fit it in around a job, but some will have to mean getting workmen in) so I'm not rushing into anything....... Hoping to kick-start the process just after Easter, as long as I've got enough clearing up done by then to be confident I can be done in time, and then start 'for real' in September.
For now I'll have my GDs around school/pre-school (term-time only) as a "favour" for my DD, but this should also give me some idea as to whether or not I'd cope with more children for more hours. If I do get registered (the medical being the only thing that worries me if I have a flare up between now and then), then I need just one other paying "client", which means DD can get Tax Credits towards paying me for having my GDs too -- so the best of all worlds for all of us really :TCheryl0 -
Well, I'm officially starting this today!
Remember, I'm a teenager saving pocket money/left over dinner money/etc.. I have a pot to put in £5 a week but anything else is going into the pig!
Today, I added 81 coins.. sounds impressive? Most of it was 1p or 2p (with the odd 5p)! :rotfl:But I guess that means I've added more than 81p! (this was change which has been lying around for ages)Sealed Pot challenge #508
