Don't you think that might then influence the amount people transfer in one go, meaning that there is a big surge in faster payment transfers, which is exactly what this means of introduction is trying to avoid?
I can't (fully) accept that argument masonic. If HSBC, FD, NatWest/RBS, Tesco Personal Finance, et al can implement internet banking £10K FP's in a (reasonably) timely manner, then why can't Halifax, LTSB, A&L, Co-op, et al?

After all, they've had many years to think about it, and we've just 'celebrated' the 1st anniversary of it's originally planned operational date of November 2007!

    Customers do. You don't.

Staff don't because they can't know everything. I doubt you know about every single detail about your job.

Right so its just me that doesn't understand then. Thanks for your opinion but you are wrong, arrogant and rude!

If I didn't know something about my job that a customer wanted to know I would ask someone and get the right answer. So are you saying that it is ok for bank staff to make things up when they don't know the answer? Tell you what don't bother answering that as I am really not interested in your opininion.

    a) Yes? All those that bank with Halifax say that when you make a payment that it tells you how long its going to take. This thread is about you complaining about it taking 3 days instead of instant, its not our fault you can't read?

    b) Indeed but just because you need to ask a question doesn't mean someone is going to know the correct answer. Yes they should know majority of the time though.

    c) In their position they thought they knew the answer so told you what they thought. Whats wrong with that? Complain they gave you wrong information, who cares the original fault was still yours for not reading the transfer.

No I don't as people are going to be transferring regardless it's just a bonus if you're under the FP max. amount on the day.
So if you were going to transfer £1000 and you were told by your bank the limit per day was £500, you wouldn't be at all tempted to set up two transfers on consecutive days for £500?

I'm in no way defending what these latter banks are doing. I'm just pointing out that if they told everyone the intermediate limits they are using, it would somewhat defeat the object of what they are trying to do (control how many payments are sent using the service).

Yeah course I would, if the daily allowed limit is £500, nothing wrong with using the facility of eg: 2 x £500 over 2 days I'm not breaking any rules :D

Sure, there's nothing wrong with that, and if a few people phone up and find out what the limit is, it really isn't going to make a lot of difference. But if a bank tells everyone what the limit is, then it's likely to result in a whole lot of payments being 'fiddled with' so that they go via faster payments. That results in a much higher volume of faster payment traffic than the bank intended, and that's why they are not making it easy to find out what these limits are (that, and the fact they seem to be varying them quite regularly).

Not sure about other banks but, ALL payments that you initiate go via FP (if the receiving sort code is FP enabled) with Halifax - you don't get the choice - so it's not our choice but, the banks

That doesn't detract customers should be made aware of the max. allowed limit in a single transaction, which by the way will increase over time ...

I see no valid reason as to why eg: Halifax keep it so secret given the above.

If a person is so intent on keeping under the max. which will one day be £10k then all they do is put an amount in then click to the next screen to see and then keep increasing the amount til they reach the max. allowed at present.

    It defys logic
