It's then blatantly obvious, without the need to inform you specifically, whether the payment is going by FP or BACS...isn't it?
rb10 has reminded you of the FP message. Here's the BACS message for a payment >£500 requested today, Wednesday...0 -
"Theres not mass confusion. Different banks have different rules on FPS at the moment as its only just been implemented."
Sorry but the very fact that different banks have different rules on FPS is exactly why there is mass confusion.....If bank staff and customers don't understand it what would you call it?.....Me I call it mass confusion, which may be an exageration.....so just confusion then...on a big scale....lol0 -

Customers do. You don't.
Staff don't because they can't know everything.I doubt you know about every single detail about your job.

I was advised today that LTSB were unable to accept Faster Payments today, I dont know the full details of what the reasons are. Therefore would not be Halifax's fault but LTSB..0

If you are saying that a message comes up then all I can say is that it doesn't when I make a transfer and I have just checked.
Click make a payment
Enter £499
Select todays date
Click 'next'
Now do you see rb10's 'payment will be made within 2 hours' (FP) message?
Click make a payment
Enter £501
Select todays date
Click 'next'
Now do you see my 'can't be sent today' (BACS) message?

Are you sure he will see that bit in time

With all due respect YorkshireBoy customers shouldn't have to guess as this upper limit is increasing until the max upper limit of £10k.
It doesn't take much to actually show customers on-screen the max FP amount allowed in a single transfer.
Geez! they could even give a daily FP running totalProudly Banking & Saving With:

No I don't as people are going to be transferring regardless it's just a bonus if you're under the FP max. amount on the day.
They should've done extensive testing before roll-out not using customers as guinea pigs and causing needless and avoidable confusion.
As each bank is different it just adds to the confusion.
If they were bothered about 'influencing the amount people transfer in one go' then it should've been agreed all banks have the same upper limit plus and or limit the daily total that increases on a regular basis.
It's not rocket science but, ill thought out by people who are paid good money to do thisProudly Banking & Saving With:

I agree, but guessing the upper limit isn't the issue here. 'ekimnas' is saying they don't know what's happening with their transfers because Halifax aren't telling them. As we've established, Halifax do show the transfer initiation date and time to arrive...from which the customer can deduce the transfer method.
Until FP's are fully rolled out (and maybe even beyond that if security turns out to be a major issue) the customer should always assume, especially when making bill payments requiring deadlines (such as credit card payments), that the payment will go by 3-day BACS. If it goes by FP, then great!0
