I have a contract with 02 online which runs out in October. I like the Motorola v3. Before i phone them and look silly i thought i'd ask on here first and look silly :p

What i'm asking is, will 02 let me change my phone and if so would i have to pay extra?

I had a free upgrade last September which was 3 months early. However, I was experiencing problems with my eyesight at the time and simply asked nicely if it would be possible to obtain a phone with a larger screen. After also reading the O2 rententions thread on this site, I also told them I could get a better deal with 3 at the time. I changed from a 6230 to a 3230. You should definately speak to rententions but I would guess it would depend how long you have left on your contract and who you speak to at the time of phoning.

Speaking from my experience as a Customer Servce Advisor for T-Mobile, it would be highly unlikely.

Your Customer Lifetime Contribution (CLC) is calculated over the period of 12 or so months from when you last renewed your contract.

The reason you enter a new contract after upgrading is so that the provider can recoup the costs of giving you a new phone.

May I suggest that you purchase the V3 on ebay and, once you have the V3, sell your current phone? And then in 9 months or so, you will be entitled to the upgrade from O2 - you can then sell the V3 or sell the new upgrade.....
