Non Standard Interior Doors Solution?

Hi all
Whilest organising my total bathroom refurb I've decided to change the door as the bathroom will be very mordern and the current door will look very untidy.
It is a dipped 4 panel door & has been left unvarnished so is splitting slighty around raised panelling.
It also has old furniture, a kind of brass looking decorative plate & old fashioned bulky lock & key, removing these would further damage the door and leave gaps. Hinges are also rusty.
Problem is i can't buy a ready made door to fit anywhere and am struggling to find a custom made at any price!
I've just searched the www.doorwarehouse.co.uk website (I found on an old thread about the same) but it comes up with no results for my size requirements which are 700mm x 1925.
Eventually i will replace all doors to match, when funds permit.
I even went to a local joiner today (horrible man) and he said it would be around 250.00, 400.00, 500.00 quid (nicely thought out estimate!) & told me even at that he didn't want to do it!
I expect this is a common occurance, so what are the options. I live in warrington cheshire and can definately rule out ready made as i've searched everywhere.
I want a traditional with mordern update wood panel door as it is in keeping with the house (old large terrace high ceilings)
Any sugestions very welcome please

You can cut doors down to size - it's what most people do as most doorways are different are time, especially in old houses.
If it were me, I'd buy a 28" by 78" (I've found door speak is often in inches) and cut it down to size.
Otherwise, it sounds like it would be cheaper to reline the doorframe and hang a standard door off it than it would to have a bespoke door made.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

hiya thanks for replying,
I had thought of this but,
I've been told everywhere that makes a ready made door that they cant be cut down as they are not solid wood anymore and all packed inside
Unsure what you mean by reline the door frame,(rip it out and replace?) the frame would have to be larger to fit a standard door0 -
Hiya I love it
You should be looking to buy 6'6" x 30" (or if you search you may find a 28"). Your preferred type may not be available in your required size.
The door will need 'ripped down' to size. This is commonplace on most door fits, especially on the height as this can be affected by laminate, carpet, tile, etc height. It is normally possible to rip 1" all round, regardless of the door type. I recently cut a 'hollow' door down from 1980mm to 1200mm to fit a bespoke under stairs cupboard, you make a timber filet & glue this into the gap.
Find a good local joiner, he will be used to your type of request & can advise on which door will be most suitable for ripping down to your requirements.

I was in a flooring place on hillington industrial estate in glasgow last week called Big Tree wooden products and they said they will be starting to manufacture non standard doors to order in the next couple of months so maybe they could help you. Their number is:0141 8821816. I think they have another place in England somewhere as well so maybe that would be nearer for you. Hope this is a helpSmile though your bank is breaking:)0

what type of timber do you want for your eventual new doors?
the door warehouse seem to do a wide range of doors, are none of them actually solid wood? a 28 inch wide one could easily be cut to your required size.
if you want pine, take a look at https://www.countrydoors.co.uk0 -
we have the same trouble with our bathroom door, so i have decided to have a white bi fold door from b&q. they start from £50 each.least each part of the door can be trimmed to fit....spanky xx

You won't get anything new as well fitting or as good quality as your original door without spending a fortune on a custom-made hardwood door. Either refurbish the original, researching new fittings that will cover over where the old ones have been removed and carefully filling the splits OR go to a reclaiming yard and find another old door that needs less work. IMO this is the only way you will get something that is truly 'in keeping' and not an awful parody.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

I would be concerned that a replacement in a different style would not match the other doors opening into the hall and so would look a bit odd. Are the other doors dipped as well?
the same goes with replacing the door furniture really.
I would go for a solution that will fit in with the rest of the doors into the hall. that might mean saving up and doing them all in one go.
ps you can buy reasonable quality panelled timber doors in Wickes that can be cut down and finished as you wish. they are not much more expensive than the white corrugated cardboard ones.0 -
These guys have a good selection, and aren't too far from you.

We need to replace one of our interior bedroom doors. Its and old terraced house and the original pine panel doors have been stripped. I'd love to be able to get an old door but chances are slim but think a new one can be coloured down to match.
Problem is, being an old house nothing is level if you know what I mean..........the floor slopes a bit and the doorways a bit slanted. I know a new door won't fit in and OH says to get one and cut it to size, not easy with such an uneven shape.........I wondered if it would be easier to re-line the doorway as someone here suggested and fit a standard door.
Whats the usual method used for this kind of problem ?
OH is a bit of a DIY chap but has his limits -not sure which way would be best for him.I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
