. It will not cure cancer, it will not bring nations together and it will not get you laid. It's just pixels shuffling around on a 3" screen, nothing more.

spendaholic - I have just bitten the bullet and ordered one from Hong Kong on ebay - it was someone withover 1200 feedback, all positive apart from 1 neutral - and several positive for the Professor Layton.
I wouldn't risk buying anything really expensive from there, but thought for £20 its worth a gamble to get it in time for xmas.0 -

I have managed to get this game at HMV today. Everyone, dont limit the search to the net, I came accross this site last night and posted a reply of how difficult I found to get this game. Was disgusted at Play and Amazon, like everyone else. Ordered it from Currys, said it was in stock on their site, then find an email the next day saying they didnt have it. DOH.
But ... out of the blue today there it was in HMV. So it just goes to show, keep checking the shops on the high street, as at least you can physically see the stock rather than chance it with the net. Saying that, if I had saw it at Play.com for £24.99 with free delivery then I too would have done the deal. But I suppose, with demand so high, its possible that the shops might just get the point and restock before the net sellers do, could be talking c*** but like I said, at least you can SEE the game rather than rely on what you CANT see.
A bit extra ? Yeah a few quid buying it in the shops but it aint 48.99 is it like play.
Anyone from Bristol? It was being sold in the new HMV in Broadmead today, this was at 12.30pm, they may have more. There was plenty left.
HMV, possibly new stock? Who knows. Anyway, I m done. Good luck everyone, keep visiting the shops each day, I am sure they will get more in.
I'm in Bristol, where is the new HMV?“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
I managed to get one of these games, its for me for xmas from DH but he would never hunt around for something like I do and i really wanted it.
I registered for the stock checker and had 2 emails since even though it has been in stock in places so dont rely on that its rubbish, I was checking each site several times a day and found it on the 2nd day, it was delivered yesterday from Currys.
One thing I will say talking to my MIL who has the game has said it is really difficult the reviews also say the same so anyone hunting for a child of 7 ish (the age recommended on the game) I wonder if its worth the struggle to get hold of one, especially paying over the odds for it as I think there will be a lot of frustrated kiddies on christmas day when they realise they cant do it. There is a lot of maths on it that my almost 9 yr old son who is top in his maths class would not be able to do. His nan was going to buy it for him but has said since struggling with it herself she doesnt feel its a kids game and has got him something else.0 -
... a child of 7 ish (the age recommended on the game)
That is the rating of the game, i.e. it's not got swearing in it etc, but has some mildly scary scenes in it (hence the spider). I don't think it is recommending that a 7 year old will be able to necessarily play it. That is why it is a good idea, as you have done, to check with other people/reviews what age it is suitable for.
I managed to get a copy at Tesco. An assistant had just finished putting out games (but not Prof. Layton) and I asked her if they had any copies of the game in stock. She hesitated, and then reluctantly pulled a single copy she had upside down on her trolley and gave it to. Methinks she was saving it for someone!!

lol, I just used the stock locator http://nintendodsstockists.co.uk/professor-layton-curious-village-ds#ProfessorL and ticked the box for an audio alert. Just hope they deliver now.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I've just ordered it too, but I'm not hoping too much.
