Well now, you wouldn't earn commission for that bit of "Advice" would you despite how good it is.....and there lies the crux of the problem.........0 -
Cushions.:D
I asked here why and what was wrong with our existing curtains.
she replied nothing, she just fancied a change of colour.
Now we are not in debt (other than our mortgages), no loans, no credit card debt etc and are in a good financial position, however I do think (and trying not to be sexist) that women are far more prone to need to change things / buy clothes as a pick me up that men would be happy to live with. On saying that, men (including me) are far more tempted by gadgetry things:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach.

Yeah, I don't let myself post on DFW or even read the posts. I don't want to end up barred for making 'inappropriate' comments when you've got some 'king idiot that is up to his eyeballs in debt and isn't prepared to give up Sky TV or the 4x4.
<calm thoughts>sit quietly Generali...big deep breaths...one...two...three...four......</calm thoughts>
Although I don't go to the DFW board, I am essentially a DFW person.
I can't wait until my mortgages are debt freeand have taken action to pay them off earlier.
It was the understanding of mortgages and my decision to overpay was when I saw the light.
The more I pay earlier, the more savings I make.:wall:

Think me and ex hubby changed positions although he also wanted the gadgetry things........
I was more of the if it ain't broke mentality which drove him up the wall, over the ceiling and down the other side. :rotfl:We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Blimey.
More money than most people will ever see in their entire life!!
Not quite. In the UK, I would think that most people will see £200k in their lifetime.
If you take a 45 year working life, £200k is less than £4,500 per year:wall:

Salary after tax and basic overheads. And I was speaking from the viewpoint of somebody whose first job was at 87p/hour. Not "starting from today".0 -
I have been having a bit of a think about the IVA and bankruptcy lark this morning, as you do. On the subject of the £200k plus debt with F-all to show for it. With £120k on CC's.
I thought to myself I wonder what stops folk buying tons of stuff on credit cards, and selling it to people for cash and then stashing the cash in a Swiss bank account, then at some point having the debt predominantly written off while say having 50% sitting in cash in Switzerland/or under some matresses ? It seems to me that the situation is in such a mess, and slack that I bet there have been hundreds of nice gifts given out that people had no intention of paying for.
Of course, it could be classified as obtaining goods by deception, but those that have racked up these debts have effectively done that anyway, a the law gives them a nice little loophole to get out of it. :mad:0 -

I got a lot of hostility over there for daring to suggest they give their money making schemes a wide birth (typically schemes that involved spred betting and other non work money earners that in the end will only make money for the company owners).
