I like my GHDs but I don't think they're that much better than my old Remington £20 ones.0

Hi Putty,
Thanks just called the store and they confirmed that they were indeed jose aber. I guess got mixed up by something I saw in debenhams too. Thank you very much. Have you bought them?
One more advice needed which one would you buy Jose aber/GHD mk4/ BaByliss Radiance Pro 230 in hair straighteners?
Hi Pia,
I have the Jose Eber 19mm curling tong but I haven't really used it yet. I haven't tried the straighteners as I have the pink mk4 GHD's which I wouldn't be without!

All electrical items have a one year guarentee- weather its an ipod, a dvd player or ghd hair straighteners- if anything electrical breaks within a year, the company are obliged to replace or repair it at no cost to you.
I have not tried babylis myself- unless you count the metal straighteneing irons with stream attachment I had way back when... but I have tried whal which are ok, but to me don't seem to make my hair stay straight for as long as GHDs. I think I prefer GHDs but then that is my opinion, I am a self confessed label addict though would try Babylis if someone offered them to me, but the money is too great a risk- £50 is to much to lose, even if they did the job, I know I would always be thinking "what if..."0 -

It all depends on how thick your hair is, i have a house full of girls (3 of them) that swear by ghd we have had 2 sets fail but have been used daily and been repaird. I bought the babyliss 230 for the wife as a cheap alternative and she noticed they are not quite up to the mark of the ghd.
Tbh for most the babyliss 230 would be more than adequate, depends how thick you hair is to begin with. I have noticed however that using these devises ruins your hair or should i say makes you have to keep using them.Your hair loses its natural oils and it cant be good for it surely ??0 -
My daughter's GHDs died after about 18 months - sent them back for repair and they said they were too old to repair - must have been old stock. Anyway, I emailed them saying I was rather upset that they were to be scrapped at that age (had been told cost does not equal durability on the phone!!) and protested most strongly etc, told them I would be sending the £10 PO to get them back. Duly sent it off and a couple of weeks later got a brad new pair of GHDs through!! I suspect they do not expect people to ask for written off GHDs back and chuck them out, but my husband is an electronics engineer so they might have been repaired eventually! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

My GHDs died a few weeks back - they were 4 years old so I was expecting it really because they've had some hammering over the years...
Anyway, I sent them back 4 weeks ago thinking they'd repair them for me as I'd rather pay them to do it and 2 weeks later I got a phone call saying they couldn't repair them as they don't keep parts for Mk3 anymore, and couldn't replace them as they were 4 years old but they could offer me a 20% discount on a new pair - I did this because I needed new ones anyway..... Then, a week after the ones I bought arrived, I had a package with a brand new pair of Mk3 GHDs and a letter saying they'd been replaced! Luckily my mum needed a pair anyway, so we've got them for £45 each, but a word to anyone else, if yours have broken, regardless of how old they are, send them back and if they call you offering you a discount just say you can't afford it and see if a replacement pair come for free!0 -
The new VIBE straighteners are really good. Didn't think anything could beat GHD but these do.0

Costco normally have the Babyliss pro 230#s for around £30. Their returns policy is very good too. IU bought saome for a friend they had a problem after a year and they just refunded so I then re-purchased the newer model.. I don't use them so can only pass on the comments of the 2 people I bought them for who both previously had GHD's that packed up after a while - the both prefer the Babyliss .. especially at the price.HLK

Hi HLK,
I have made up my mind after reading all the posts to go for the babyliss pro 230 radiance, do costco do the radiance for £30 or elegance model? Radiance is the red one and elegance is the black one.
Thanks in advance0 -

I have to admit I told them I didn't want a 20% discount if they wouldn't last any longer!! Rather annoying - you did better than me!!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
