You'll get the best result by following Conor's advice, if you do have a spare PCI slot.

Don't site it (nor your laptop(s) nor your wireless router) close to a microwave oven, though. We even had to relocate the microwave oven in the kitchen because it was activating the electronic cat-flap!

I now sometimes wonder what might be going on inside the head of the cat herself when we fire it up to cook a pizza, or when we activate wi-fi: she came from the RSPCA with some sort of electronic ID chip surgically implanted and it isn't possible to link the dongle on her collar to the sensor on the cat-flap without removing the collar from the cat - her implanted ID chip interferes with the process.

I can't say that was reason why we upped the wi-fi from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz but I feel a bit less concerned on that front having done so...

Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

  • ill look into fitting one in a pci slot, in my ignorance i didnt realise the slots were inside the unit, i tried changing the channel and moved it around byt it didnt make much difference.

We are all awaiting with great interest your technical Techie explanation of how those who have laptops with no PCMCIA (nor Cardbus nor ExpressCard, come to that) slot at all, exercise what you claim assertively and unequivocally - as a "truth", no less - to be their option to insert a PCMCIA card into it.

I do hope you will resist the temptation to suggest that it be into the same orifice as that out of which you pontificate.

You should not underestimate the value of demonstrating to everyone in this forum that a person who has posted to it 6,211 times in three years and attracted 3,227 expressions of Thanks in 1,722 posts is, in fact, unpossessed of the capacity for fundamental logical reasoning customarily to be found in a 4 year old child.

(A child of the type who brought everyone to their senses by pointing out that the Emperor being much lauded for his sartorial magnificence was in fact wearing no clothes at all sort-of-thing, if you catch my drift.)

Because people for whom money is tight need to be able to recognise whose advice is trustworthy on here and who is so stupid that theirs isn't.

I am most deeply grateful to you for revealing so publicly into which of these two categories yours falls.

I won't reciprocate your invitation to "keep digging": instead, I urge you to keep preening and revealing yourself to be a frivolous fool.

At what financial cost to others?

Stating which, demonstrates to all your incapacity to comprehend what the "argument" actually was.

Returning to the topic of this thread, please would you now dazzle us all with your intelligence and Techie credentials by explaining how to insert a PCMCIA card into a laptop that has no PCMCIA slot. You assured us that it was possible. :)

Your credibilty to offer advice on MSE is at stake.

And we all know how much that matters to you...

Don't be daunted by it. If you do have a spare PCI slot it really is as easy as Conor kindly explained it - and not expensive.

    Good luck! :)

Anyone but a fool would realise that it always is.

But yours is now lost forever...

Please stop wasting everybody's time, and Martin's server space, with this drivel. Go and play games with Donnie by PM - or even busy yourself with sending him your pine nut recipes. They'll do his "girlfriend" more good than his chips.
