hmmmmmm, i have to admit, i've never been quite happy with the belkin wireless adapters (the client-side software is so unnecessary); i'm tempted to say they are much the muchness - but that's probably a cop out. I have an Ozenda adapter which came with my Ozenda router - but it ain't the best.BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

No. All USB wifi dongles are rubbish. They're a "make-do" solution. They have a very simple non amplifying RF receiver circuit and no antenna to speak of. You would get more mileage getting a PCI one and putting it in your PC. When you get the PCI one, you'll see the cover over the receiver circuitry and note that it's bigger than the USB dongle which kind of tells you all you need to know.
Belkins also seem to have some kind of driver issue too with WPA encryption which compounds the issue. Connect, work 30 seconds, drop connection, reconnect, work 30 seconds, drop connection. Works fine on WEP but not on WPA.0 -

signal 'strength' might be fine, but the 'channel' might be getting interference with another signal from elsewhere:idea:0 -
its on WEP encryption anyway and its still not working, my desktop is about 3 years old and dont think it has a pci slot, is it difficult to install one without a alot in place or is it possible even.0
