How much do you spend per day

Hello

I have been doing some morning readings (How much credit is left on prepayment meter) And for about 7 hours of heating and hot water, we spend about £2 a day.. Is this good or expensive?

  • i guess it depends how hot your heating is

    We spend between virtually nothing on hot days to maybe £3 per day on cold days - my average is around just over a pound per day

  • Depends how cold it is - i change the thermostat daily and change the radiator valves dependent upon how much there is someone in the house

    Averages again are:
    8am-3pm - 18 degrees
    3-6 - 19 degrees
    6-10.30 - 20/21 degrees
    10.30-8 - 15 degrees

    We only have the radiators on:

    6am - 8am
    8am - 5pm - off
    5pm - 9pm
    9pm - 6am - off

    Are you on prepayment?

    No - plus we have very good insulation and are very economical with hot water etc
  • I just rang BG, they did a rebill for me. Over last 8 days:

    Gas = £20.55 = £2.57 per day

    Electric = £12.55 = £1.56 per day.

    4 bedroom house. 4 adults, 1 cat. Someone in the house for approx 18 hours a day mimumum at the moment, heating on for 10 hours a day on 20 - 25 degrees and an open fire, burning for 7 hours a day.

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

    Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

    Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

    The length of time the radiators are on is only one factor - the temps that they kick in at and switch off at also affects usage. You'd probably get a wider range of replies if you said how many kwh you use a day - most of us who pay by DD or quarterly look at the amount of gas used rather than the daily cost.

    So if we pay about £2 for 7 hours.. thats not too bad.. seeing as were on PP
