Oil Fuel Tanks...Secure?

Forgive me if this is a stupid question but never having had to deal with Oil Fuel before I have no idea about this. We are due to move into a property that uses Oil Fuel in a few weeks time, I have been phoning around this morning to get quotes so I can assure we have some in time for Christmas. One company advised me to order by the 8th at the latest as they get busy just before Chrsitmas, she even suggested having it filled before we move in. How secure are the tanks? I mean, if I did get it filled but I'm not at the property to keep an eye on it could anyone else get to it? I really am feeling a little silly:o at asking this but need to know. Thanks.

  • Oil theft can be a problem
If the house is empty and the house is isolated I would not risk having it filled.
If you have neighbours close by,then maybe you could ask them to keep an eye out for you.
It is very easy to drain the oil from the tank

  • Agree with the above post!
However I dont think you would have a problem if you asked for delivery during a week after you moved in (our supplier does a round of villages so it always takes a week or so) If you paid for it when you ordered it!

Good luck ! and welcome to the bizzare and strange world of no mains gas!!!
