a.p.a american psychological association i think its called ..we were told not to get a book on it as it changes often and is expensive the library had handouts but they are a) out of date now b) none left...hmmmm i think i will look on line for it though i am sure something will be available on the subject
Ah, I use Harvard but will have a look through my old psychology stuff and see if can find a link or something.0 -

We had to use Harvard for English and APA for psychology, my degree was combined.
Just click on the links at the bottom for the details.0 -

Quite afew people dropped out of my social work, they said they just weren't interested in it, now they have been unemployed for over 6months, owe student loan they borrowed, and are complaining about the lack of money they are living on.
So, I would just advise you to make a list of all the reasons behind you choosing that course and attending uni.
eg, set example to family, prove something to myself, show all the others who doubted me, make people proud of me, help people in need......
Your tutors/lecturers are always available to help, and there should be extra classes to help with study skills. Believe me, once you get the hang of referencing, you'l think what did i ever worry about?
Anyway, if you are feeling down about the course/workload, just look at your list of motivations, and it will renew your confidence!!!0 -
thanks sally i will re do that it is good to visit our reasons for why we do things often ... i am also looking at s.a.d just now i know that might sound silly but i first became aware of how i was feeling last year and made a mental note to keep an eye on it this year so i am wondering if i possibly might have it ...if so i should hopefully be able to deal with it0

I've been at uni 3 years now and have once again hit the wall where I want to quit and move back home! Its totally normal even after a few years of study to be honest. Just take some time out to relax and think about what will ultimately make you happy. I had a visit home this week for some pampering and to get some advice from my mam, it really helped me and ive come back up here full of determination to finish my degree and make everyone proud.
I always have trouble with referencing too, theres a really good publication that our university offer to students to help get to grips with it, its called quote.. unquote, its available online here http://www.leedsmet.ac.uk/lskills/open/sfl/content/harvard/downloads/harvard_2004.pdftrying to become a moneysaving student0 -
thanks very much melly meep every bit helps ...i am also aware of plagerism i know i would never purposely copy anything and try and pass it off as my own ...but i am aware i might and at the end of the day we are really just regurgitating what others have said before us ....i will deff give all the links a good look at though ...any help i can get the better ..
thanks again everyone i really appreciate it0 -
I hated Uni the first few weeks. I am starting to enjoy it more now and am settling in more. I dont want to leave as I am so much riding on my, my kids and my husband are supported via my student funding!
I think when you are older it is harder as there as so many other things going on in your life anyway, Stick with it x xDebt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0 -
Stay with it!
Reflective pieces of work are hard to refrence though, because you don't really need any refrences, surely? Well I wouldn't reference anything in a reflective piece.
I graduated from my first degree in 2003, the 3 years were a bumpy ride and the first semester was truly awful, I was ill by the December, with stress and anxiety really.
Now I am into my second year of my Clinical training, but wanted to give up in the first year about 30 times at least!
Keep atit and make sure you have some proper time off from it at Christmas.Pay off as much as you can in 2012 challenge No. 64: 328.75/2,5000
